I've got some kaolin clay on the way. Some people say cream of tartar helps as well, I will try that in the meantime. Glad to know I'm not the only one with malleable bombs.
Has anyone ever had a problem with their bathbombs seeming to never try or get very solid after adding poly 80? It's the only thing in my recipe that I have changed and three days of drying leaves a soft, crumbly bomb. They used to be rock hard within hours. Now if you poke them too hard you'll...
I've had my first run-in with WARTS.
The only thing about my recipe that's changed is that I've added poly 80.
It seems I can never mix the poly 80 in enough and it leaves little "wet" looking splotches on my bomb which then turn into warts!
Has this happened to anyone else? I only add...
I am currently having the exact same problem... I added 5g of SLSA to my recipe to create the foam and all the sudden it's so chalky! This is not at all what I want as a final products as it doesn't feel nice in my hands. Did you ever solve the problem or try any of the above suggestions? Could...
Thanks! Maybe I'll try experimenting with different oils. I made one batch without ANY oils though and they STILL sank. Maybe I need oils but a less dense oil?
I actually did manage to change my recipe and finally get them to float. I used much more cornstarch and packed them a lot lighter...
That's a good tip, thanks for your opinion! I know cleaning the tub after certainly isn't for everyone (no one, maybe) and with this one you do have to be careful not to get your hair in. :)
Try mixing your sea salts with a bit of an oil or butter that is solid at room temperature (I use coconut oil). Melt the oil and drizzle it with the salts before adding them tot he mold.
How much do you usually use in a batch? I'm planning on trying some micas and don't really want to add a whole mess, and don't really want to wate time with 10 batches that don't have enough to colour the tub.
Nope! Once all fizzed the grounds will stick to you (and, unfortunately, the side of your tub) you can scrub away and relax and finish up with a quick rinse in the shower once you're done. I know some people hate cleaning up the tub afterwards but rinsing off your body and the tub at the same...
So, I tried making a recipe forgoing the oils altogether.
They still sank.
Maybe it's the way I'm packing these things? I like to pack as much in as possible, but maybe that's not the best way.
Any packing advice?
Thanks! I am trying to make some floaters, though I totally love my "sinkers" and the hard oils and butters. I will try some recipes using a liquid oil and see if the results are any different...
