    Got a good Egyptian Musk?

The Frank 'n Myrhh scent is coming along nicely at the one week point. Hopefully it will hold up over time.

    Got a good Egyptian Musk?

Well, after talking to Suz at OT I bought a bottle of her Egyptian Musk and a bottle of Frankincense and Myrhh. She was very nice to talk to and did her best to be helpful. I do wish she had more info on her website like WSP and NG do but I get the feeling OT is a much smaller operation and...

    Got a good Egyptian Musk?

So, I have a customer who has requested Egyptian musk and wants a couple dozen bars. I make CP and have tried both NG and Aztec's Egyptian musk FO at 5% of oils and both are pleasant but really faint after 6 weeks of cure. Does anyone have a better Egyptian musk for CP? Is 5% just not enough...

Loaf molds, best material to use?

Thanks for the input. Once again, it sounds like HDPE molds are not worth the extra cost and effort vs. buying wood at the local hardware store. As far as the silicone liners go, thanks for the suggestions. I guess the old saying goes here that you go with what works best for you. My previous...

Loaf molds, best material to use?

So it sounds like the silicone molds I used before I made my current molds. Sometimes they would release & sometimes it was impossible to get the soap out undamaged. With the wood molds at least I can pop the sides open and pull out the soap undamaged holding it with the liner paper, even if it...

Loaf molds, best material to use?

If you have used different kinds of loaf molds, how do they compare? By that I mean wood molds vs. white HDPE plastic molds. I'm putting this in the lye soap forum since I only do CP at this time. Not too concerned how they might perform with MP. I need to make a few more loaf molds. I'm...

    Shrinkwrap and scent transfer

I used shrink wrap last season. I didn't use the perforated kind but snipped the corners to let the soap breath just a bit. I packed two or three different kinds of soap each in plastic shoe-boxes. During the season I didn't notice much if any scent transfer but the boxes were opened and stuff...

    Scruby Coffee Hand Soap

I think it should be fine. The sugar will make it extra hot when adding lye so maybe freeze the coffee and sugar or at least get it good and cold before adding lye and let it cool before mixing into the oils. Not too cool though with all the solid oil and butters.

    Scruby Coffee Hand Soap

From making coffee soap I have found a couple things; When using coffee as grit or exfoliant, it does help to grind it very, very fine or it is like coarse sandpaper on your skin. Also, you may want to use used coffee grounds for that. Fresh coffee grounds will color the soap and hey, you might...

    Setting Up Shop

Thanks for the encouraging comments. I do feel very fortunate that we have the space and the resources to put this space together. Finally, after too many months, I got to make a couple batches of olive oil soap in the new shop. Now I get to make a couple big orders of fresh oils and build up...

Eeek! Does anybody actually use with this oil!

Patchouli - a little bit goes a long way. I recall some 30 years ago, riding my motorcycle along a highway next to a river somewhere in Western Oregon. There was a VW van parked next to the river about 20 or 30 yards off the road and there were a coupe folks in the river and a couple folks next...
