Citric Acid in lye water (did I mess it up)?

Who knows about adding citric acid to lye water?? I have formulated everything properly BUT I freaking forgot to add the citric to the distilled water before I added the lye so I added it after the lye was dissolved. ***Well….I highly suggest NOT doing that as all kind is sizzling and scary...

Entry Thread for the March 2022 SMF Challenge - Column Pour

Well I’m late but here’s my attempt! This was so fun and my first time doing a column pour. Will definitely be trying this again! Edited to add: I chose a recipe high in lard and tallow to keep it fluid longer. I did add goat and coconut milk as I do with all my soaps. It was funny that the...

I think I messed this up

This soap hardened up, I cut it and it’s been curing almost 2 weeks. It looks like soap and acts like soap so I’m going to wrap it up and gift it and keep a couple of bars for myself.

SMF March 2022 Challenge - Column Pour Technique

My soap is made….it was my very first time trying a column pour. While it looks decent, it could look a lot better. I learned a LOT from this batch. It was only the second time using animal fats in soap. I chose them because they give lots of working time. The only thing I could find around here...

I think I messed this up

The containers were all sitting together and all the same temp with my infrared thermometer. I used an accelerating fragrance for the soap just in case to make sure it hardened up and was able to cut it several hours after I made it.

I think I messed this up

I prepped 6 batches of soap 2 days ago. They have 20% coconut oil and 25% palm. My palm oil was fully melted and mixed when I used it. ALL of the other containers had solidified hard oils but this one and all were around 62°F. I was careful to make sure I put the correct oils in all the...

    Faces in soap

One of the very first soaps I ever made that weren’t melt & pour was dragons blood fragranced and it had a dragon face in it!! I still have these bars I made in 2018. Apart they look like the profile of some kind of demon, but together I see the straight on face of a dragon
