Hi, thanks for taking a look at my profile! I took up soaping about four-fifths of a year ago, learning at the elbow of my mom who had recently bought a book on it.
While my mother was more excited to make soap due to her assumption it had little rules other than the saponification of the oils one used and the molds you could fashion, I wanted to know the proper science and experimentation factors. The fun of finding a new way to make a really cool design, scent, or feel. Learning all the technical things like gel phases, discounting trace, and soda ash became what I did when I had a moment to myself.
That I soon discovered I was pregnant with my first child and my work wouldn't accommodate me only made me want to learn more, so I could use my knowledge and excitement for soaping (and lotions and lip balm, to be fair) to support us as well as give me the time to raise my new baby.
