Mixing at a too low temperature?

Thanks Dixiedragon. Yes, it was just a few minutes ago and I panicked and threw it into the oven as you have suggested - 170degrees for 2 hours is what I read. I didn't know whether it would work but I get it from what you have said - that lower temperatures saponify more slowly so maybe I...

Mixing at a too low temperature?

Hi there I have just been experimenting with the room temperature (energy exchange) method of melting and mixing. I have made three batches - the first I started to stick blend when it was about 95degrees and it has turned out fine. The second batch, after 24 hours, is soft cheese still...

recipe for Dead Sea salt bar?

Hello I want to make a soap for my sister who, following a broken foot, now has psoriasis on her feet! I have bought some Dead Sea salt to make salt bars but I am aware that too much washing of the damaged skin is not advised. So the idea I had of using coconut oil which would lather with the...

A picture of ricing, volcanos, separating, overheating

Great pictures I'd like to also say - thanks for those pictures. I know now I have had; a couple of batches of glycerine rivers (cause TD I think), one mild alien brain (hidden well under some dried orange peel decoration)and maybe a mini lye problem - very small clear spots in a coconut soap...

    Soap too cleansing

Hi DeeAnna Thanks for that interesting take on super fatting. Does it mean, in your opinion then, that any super fatted soap is in fact simply reducing the amount of oil it takes from the skin in the first place? In other words, if we assume that any of the 'dirt' on the skin naturally mixes...
