Would a preservative work in a completely water based formula?

I’m talking about this recipe for oat hair gel. I’ve used it before and it’s wonderful, but before when I made it I knew nothing about preservatives and how refrigeration isn’t enough. Oatmeal Hair Gel Recipe For Curly Hair It’s completely “bug food,” meaning no oil, no regular water, all oat...

Can aspen bark powder be used in place of phytocide aspen extract for a preservative?

Thanks for your answer! With the general consensus of everybody here, I’m definitely gonna be looking at a different route. When you said the world botanical, all I thought was how “botanicals” are germ food typically, how silly of me! I’m going to reply to everyone and ask everybody this, but...

Can aspen bark powder be used in place of phytocide aspen extract for a preservative?

Hi! I am making a spray lotion using mostly water based products, acacia gum as a solubilizer, a teeny bit of oils. I think it’s gonna be great for my skin! Of course, I don’t wanna make myself sick. And the aspen bark preservative seems like it’ll work for my really really really sensitive...

Acacia gum as an emulsifier in lotion or cream?

Thank you! And yes of course, that much I know for certain! Anything with water needs a broad spectrum preservative :) Don’t want to be getting sick from something fun! Thanks again! I’ll check out those links.

Acacia gum as an emulsifier in lotion or cream?

Hi everyone! Title says it all. Would that work? I have no recipe or anything for you to critique, but am looking for something to use as an emulsifier before I make it. I found a recipe online that uses only acacia gum as an emulsifier. I don’t know how well it would hold up though, so I just...

Hi! Few questions about body butters and lotions :)

Thanks for your input! And sorry for my late reply. That’s such a good point! I kind of wrote off all alcohols and detergents as bad, so I’ll just give it a shot! Are there any other fast absorbing oils you could recommend? Thanks so much! I’ll use these ideas!!! :) Thank you!!

Hi! Few questions about body butters and lotions :)

I use mango butter, grapeseed oil, and walnut oil. Both of the oils are linoleic, which I believe means lighter and easier to absorb. (I have expensive taste too!! Lol)

Hi! Few questions about body butters and lotions :)

I have been making body butters and really enjoy how moisturizing they are, but they feel so greasy if I use any more than (less than) a dime size of it on any given area of my body. This makes sense, it’s oils after all! But I’m wondering how I can cut the greasiness. Arrowroot powder? Tapioca...

    Alternative scenting ideas?

Thank you so much! I didn’t even think of the varying amounts having different effects. And it’s good to hear you too have sensitive skin and can still tolerate certain oils. Yay! lol

    Alternative scenting ideas?

Bummer :// But thanks! Any other ideas or just EOs and FOs?

    Alternative scenting ideas?

Hi! I’m new to soap making, as in I haven’t even done it yet lol! But I would really like to get started, I just have one question. I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin. I use fragrance free soap currently, but I want to have fun with scents! But essential oils leave me breaking out in rashes. When...
