    Felting new soap

I had a family member give me several fleeces (mostly wool but also alpaca) that are fully raw. If I'm reading above correctly, a soap made with more tallow, less olive oil should work well and its ok if its a newer soap? Like only cured 2 to 3 weeks, then felted and set aside another 2 weeks...

    Yet another newbie

Good morning all! Yet another newbie. I actually had a different post as my first asking some questions on 2 batches and am so thankful for the supportive replies! I've been on forums for other hobbies that devolved into snooty and snide comments to new people asking "stupid" or "yeah dugh"...

    Shave soap siezing?

Um, I think I used sodium because her recipies didnt specify and every other recipe I have very specifically says potassium for that one...I think. And the only recipe I have that is potassium only was liquid castile soap.

    Shave soap siezing?

    Shave soap siezing?

Here I was worried that combining everything at 125 was too high! (Most recipies I've used from books say 110 to 120) So with these recipies, I could heat to closer to 200 degrees then before combining or just the steric at 200 and the other oils slightly cooler? I actually warmed the 2and batch...

    Shave soap siezing?

Good to know! Neither recipe included directions for hot process, but I did cook the second one for a while in the crock pot and it seems to be the better batch of the two. I'll Google the hot process zap you mentioned for future batch reference. This was batch 1, and I followed their...

    Shave soap siezing?

I dont know if sieze is even the correct term. I have tried 2 different, but similar shave soap recipies this week. Following the instructions, but both immediately went solid as I was adding the lye. No liquid state at all. The only time google seems to say that happens is with certain EO, but...
