Robert, I couldn't say. She just said it's an irritant. She's a nurse, so I'll ask her to what degree and let her know it's a typical ingredient in commercial soaps. ^_^ If that's the case then she should be able to use my soap without problem as I do know she doesn't use any specially...

I've done some searching and reading but I'm still having trouble finding an alternative to coconut oil. I guess because I'm being picky, lol. I don't want to use palm oil due to the sustainability issue. I'd like the replacement oil o be something I can easily get and isn't too expensive...

I was pleasantly surprised by the color. All I used was lemongrass and cedarwood EO's. The oils used were coconut oil, olive oil and safflower oil. The scent has softened some, it was pretty powerful at first. So, Paillo you may be able to use use an ounce of lemongrass EO and get the same...

Here are a few pictures of my very first batch of soap. They have a nice shiny top and a creamy center. The batch I made turned out 10 1 inch bars of soap. I even zap tested them and they passed! Now to set them up for the cure. *sigh* So hard to wait 4-6 weeks to try a bar out! ^_^ The loaf...

Moonbeam, I might have! It was a little nerve racking mixing up the lye, but otherwise not too bad. I found for a 2 lbs. recipe the pot I was using to mix the soap in was too large ( stock pot) so I may need to find a smaller pot to mix in until I feel comfortable making larger batches...

Update: Peeked at it at 4:00pm EST. Looks like glycerin soap! It looks a lot like honey. Somewhat translucent and golden in color. Smells lovely! Hmm...can't wait to see it in 24 hours. I'll definitely post pictures when I cut it tomorrow. Thanks Jenneelk, I'm glad to know the decimals aren't...
