How are you offsetting the cost of Olive Oil?

I've halved my O/O with sunflower oil in a sample batch. I can't tell the difference. Still nice and lathery and moisturising.

    Preservatives in UK

Hi Estintre, I've (successfully) made a few emulsions and have used Preservative K from Aromantic.co.uk. It's about £4 for 30ml +£4 delivery. It's only drawback is the final emulsion has to be below 5 ph, but I've never had a problem. I also use BTMS 25 as my emulsifier with cetearyl alcohol.

Colorants you can grow (or that grow in your country)

I use turmeric, paprika, parsley and organic cocoa. I mix paprika or turmeric in oil and heat in the microwave for about 90 secs and leave a couple of days to infuse. For the parsley, I dry in the oven and then whizz in a spice grinder. Before adding to the batter I add to a small amount of oil...

Made some mold liners out of PTFE oven liners as recommended by AliOop, worked perfectly, no leaks and re-useable! Never going back to cutting grease proof paper linings again :)

I just use the finely cut orange peel, no white pithe. Maybe try a different type of orange?

HELP! What’s happening with my soap?

I use tap water and boil it to drive off the chlorine and then left to stand for 24 hours. The water that we are supplied with is really good, fresh off the Pennines (hills in Yorkshire)

Beeswax With Cold Process Soap Making

I make and sell a beeswax and honey soap, and people love it. I use it at 2.5% and same with the honey. I dont get any problems with acceleration. You have to make sure your oils are as hot as the beeswax when you add it or you will get flakey bits of beeswax solidifying. It does get hot (due to...

    Orange Peel Powder

You have to oven dry the peel long and slow, 100 degrees C for a couple of hours, then I grind them to a fine powder in a spice grinder, cost about £10. I keep the powder in a sealed jar. Leave for a while and then have a sniff .... gorgeous!!

    Favourite soaping temperature

Room temp here too, unless I'm using beeswax, then use lye and oils warm.
