    What scale do you use?

My scales are the same to 0.05oz and 1g and they have been just fine for me...except one time when I was slow measuring my lye and they just auto shut off!!!!!! As you can imagine several expletives were let loose from my mouth at the time....

    Storing oils in hot weather

Update..... I did end up getting a cyclone and a power out during that time (incidentally was a cat 5 storm and I had to get evacuated which sucked!) before I left I pulled out as much of the palm oil blocks as I could to put in a bucket as they were really just the block of hard oil wrapped in...

    Summer storage

Humidity and heat is a big problem for me, you just have to experiment and find the best place in the house to store them, I've got mine in a big cardboard boxes with lots of ventilation in the dryest room, so far so good over the last few years and I've only ever had one batch develop the dos...

Is it really necessary to have insurance when selling soap?

I'm not saying people shouldn't get insurance - just don't over kill it for a 'hobby' business if your only selling to family and friends and the odd person. At the end of the day a good lawyer can spin stuff whatever way they want, and so can a good insurance company to get out of covering...

Is it really necessary to have insurance when selling soap?

Letting them know is kind of the point with an advertised indemnity, if they still choose to buy your soap they buy it knowing it is their own risk. It's like all those do not enter signs, people can still enter, they just can't sue because they do it knowing there may be danger. If your...

What kind of vinegar do you use for clean up?

I use white vinegar and I use it to wipe down areas I've been working and my gloves if I get them messy. As for cleaning utensils and pots and pans, I usually just put them all together and leave them till the next day, that way the soap left in the pots helps with the clean up. I would prefer...

Would would 25% superfat soap be like??

Yeah the DOS, that's what I was worried about and it would irk me for sure on such a big batch. I've got everything cooling on the table ready to go. I scooped out some of the palm oil to take it back to 80oz and i'll put that in the fridge until I know what to do with it. I didn't really want...

Is it really necessary to have insurance when selling soap?

I think it depends where you live (in terms of country and regulations). Here is Australia you don't need product insurance to sell your soap, you do need public indemnity insurance though to have a stall at a market. When I looked into it and what that covers exactly it didn't cover any...
