My scales are the same to 0.05oz and 1g and they have been just fine for me...except one time when I was slow measuring my lye and they just auto shut off!!!!!! As you can imagine several expletives were let loose from my mouth at the time....

Humidity and heat is a big problem for me, you just have to experiment and find the best place in the house to store them, I've got mine in a big cardboard boxes with lots of ventilation in the dryest room, so far so good over the last few years and I've only ever had one batch develop the dos...

I'm not saying people shouldn't get insurance - just don't over kill it for a 'hobby' business if your only selling to family and friends and the odd person. At the end of the day a good lawyer can spin stuff whatever way they want, and so can a good insurance company to get out of covering...
