    Liability insurance

Hello! I've been making soap as a hobby for a little over a year and sell to friends, family, and referrals only. I've been wanting to sell on Etsy or at local fairs/farmers markets, but I've read that I should have liability insurance. I live in Connecticut and I'm aware that these things...

    Coconut free soap??

Thanks! Thank you everyone for your reply... This customer has never bought from me and I figured that if she was asking for a special order she would want to purchase a lot, but she only wants two bars. I'm a rather small operation and sell to family, friends and referrals. I think that I...

    storage of curing soap

Do you think its ok to keep soap that is curing in my garage? I live in Connecticut so is a bit cold, I think its about 58-60 in the garage currently. It is sitting on a rack with parchment paper over it so it doesn't get any dust on it and I'll turn it every so often to keep the air...

HELP!! goats milk and lye not dissolving

I ended up throwing away the mixture since i didn't want to waste all of the oils. The milk was slushy. It didn't seem like it was milk fat at all, but then again Ive never made milk soap but i would be very surprised if it were milk fat. The top 1/3 of the mixture (about 10 oz) was floating...

oily layer on loaf of soap

I just made my third batch of CP soap and I did 65% OO, 25% Coconut, 5 % avocado, 5% jojoba with a 2 % superfat and also with raw honey. I did almost all of the batch in a loaf mold, but the left over soap I had I used a silicone mold and it turned out just fine. The silicone mold bar did not go...

    brown/orange color out of mold

Thank you. I did not add any water to the honey, I was not aware that I should do this. I couldn't find a recipe I liked so I made my own using a lye calculator and then just looked on other websites how much honey/essential oil to use. If I did use honey in the future, would you suggest I do...
