First of all, I am excited about being able to buy cheese making kits - something I have always wnated to do. << "Who do you all order from now? What products do you tend to buy the most often." >> I buy from Columbus Oils/Soaper's Choice, Rustic Escentuals, Brambleberry, Wholesale...

    Salt bar with lard?

Salt Bar Even using 50% salt, you will want to use 80% coconut oil and SF at 20%, no matter what your other % of oils are. You will get significantly reduced lather if you don't from my experience. And, at 50% salt, it is still considered a salt bar. Salt bars range in % by 50 - 100%. Anita...

    Infusing with a pressure cooker?

Pressure Cooker Soap? Has anyone ever tried to actually make soap using a pressure cooker? I googled it and only found this infusion thread. I think it would make a cool experiment, but I don't have a pressure cooker. Lye under pressure might not be the best idea but I love thinking outside...

Is it OK to sell a soap named as "bastille"

Labeling Please read Marie Gale's book on proper labeling of soap. The only way you can label your soap "Olive Oil Soap" is if the only ingredient is Olive Oil. So, technically, you cannot name Bastille soap, "Olive Oil Soap".

    Adding FO to HP Soap?

Flashpoints: Your Soap Will Not Ignite "Flashpoint is the temperature at which a pure, not mixed or diluted fragrance oil will combust or burst into flames when given an open flame. With CPOP soap, there is no open flame and the fragrance oil has been diluted by over 95% by your soap...

    Adding FO to HP Soap?

Your Soap Will Not Ignite Please, please show me one example of a soap that has ever ignited. I CPOP all the time with low flash point EOs. In general, flashpoint is a term used for candle making and for those who ship EOs and FOs. In soapmaking, adding EOs (or some FOs) when your batter...

    Silk In Soap

You are talking about a few snipped pieces of silk. Not many people have a scale sensitive to pick up a weight for the amount you would put in the typical home batch of 2 - 5 pounds. For a four-pound batch, I use about the amount of my little fingernail. Some people say the size of a...

    Silk In Soap

Looking forward to hearing about your silk soap experience. Most people add silk to their distilled water and stir well and then add the lye. Some people add to the lye soluton. I use a pre-mixed 1:1 lye solution I get from a chemical plant so I usually add my silk to the addition liquid I...

    Adding FO to HP Soap?

Flashpoint is a term used in candle making and means nothing in soaping. There is no way to get your soap batter hot enough that it will ignite.
