    Using real coffee in soap...

Agree... the chemical reaction will get rid of most of the coffee scent. Using coffee as a liquid does lend a nice colour to the soap, though. I like BrambleBerry's Espresso FO as a scent. I've found some other espresso/coffee scents to be rather chemical-ly smelling.

    Brambleberry FO sale

Champagne! For blending, like others have said, and on its own.

    Beer soaps!

Made with my husband's 2 year old bourbon barrel aged beer, and scented with a bit of BBs Raspberry Porter. Can't wait to try it!

    What EO pairs with sandalwood?

YIKES! Thank you! I did not realize that Sandalwood EO was so expensive. I know of some of the others that are pricey, but didn't realize it was in that "lux" category as well. I'm going to investigate Sandalwood FOs. There's a sandalwood EO (nature identical) blend at Saffire Blue for...

    What EO pairs with sandalwood?

I have a friend who's requested a soap with sandalwood in it. I'm not a huge sandalwood fan on its own... too... sandalwoody? What pairs nicely with sandalwood? I tend to gravitate towards the citruses and the mints, along with benzoin, but I have quite a few different EOs and could pick up...

    Bath Bomb Colorants

The La Bomb colours don't stain the tub or skin, at least in my experience. I'm not making crazy bright colours though.

    First craft show this weekend

Haha. It's beautiful here! 0*C/32*F. People are wearing shorts. (The show is inside though.) Thanks everyone for your comments - I shall let you know how it goes!

    First craft show this weekend

Eeeps! I'm excited - my first craft show is Saturday. I think I've got a good assortment of soaps, salt soaps, lip balm, mineral sea soaks, bath fizzies, bath truffles, and shower steamies. A little nervous as 2 of my batches of HP soap did not turn out - these are the first batches...

    Bath Bomb Colorants

I use La Bomb colorants, and I sort of mash them into the melted cocoa butter/oil before combining with the dry ingredients. I still end up with a few speckles but I mash, mash, mash and it combines.

    Just a couple more questions...

I shop all over for oils and butters. I'm in Canada so some of these places might be different... I find the online soap ingredient places pretty good for some ingredients. I like Voyageur Soap and Saffire Blue. I get my olive, coconut and sweet almond oil from Costco. Lard and tallow from...

    Storage

Are you meaning for this batch that already smells off, or for future batches? In the house should be fine, but there's probably not a lot that can undo rancidity or off-smells in the current batch.

Book about FDA regulations and safe production practices

Ahhh thank you both! "Good manufacturing practices" were the words I was missing in my search :)

Book about FDA regulations and safe production practices

I'm looking for the name/author of the book about FDA regulations and good production methods. I've seen people talk about it on this forum, but I can't for the life of my come up with the right words to find it in a search on Amazon or Chapters, or anywhere else on the interwebs for that...

What do you desire in a bath bomb?

I like a little bit of colour, but not enough to leave a coloured ring around the tub or tint the water too brightly. I also like a fair amount of oils like cocoa or mango butter, and a good dose of essential oil. I make mine pretty big - in the BB stainless steel mold, sometimes I add a few...

    Scent Blend Help

I like Champagne blended with a lemon peel FO. It smells fizzy and bubbly and the lemon adds a bit of sweetness and zing.
