    Is this ricing?

Wah! So much to learn! What a silly billy I am. Thank you!

    Is this ricing?

Thanks @KiwiMoose and @shunt2011 . I could well have soaped too cold (the plumber arrived the moment I'd finished stirring the lye into the water). I added salt and sugar and, actually, I usually add those to the water, but this time I only remembered as I was adding the oils and flung them in...

    Hair soap and acne

Thanks everyone. I ended up getting some SLS free, fragrance free, pH balanced, hypoallergenic (!!) shampoo for my daughter and it does seem to help. I'll check the label for citric acid. Who would have thought that could be a problem? I don't think we can get evenhealy here but I'm rapidly...

    Hair soap and acne

And they give you acne? Sorry to ask again but this could be useful info for us. I know what you mean about the threshold. Tofu is fine, soy sauce is fine, but not together! My cousin is the full bottle on this stuff, when I can see her again I'll have to ask her to show me her books. I saw her...

    Hair soap and acne

Thanks for your kind reply. Its funny how different things work for different people. My daughter's skin is healing! And surprisingly fast. Hurrah! We've tried every medication under the sun, except accutane. The only thing that has really worked is the pill. I was reluctant to give it to her...

    Hair soap and acne

Do the salicylates and amines make you break out? My daughter seems to be sensitive to amines, they give her headaches, but it's not a clear relationship. Some foods trigger it but others are OK. I hadn't really thought about them causing acne!

    Hair soap and acne

Hi, I know a lot of people make soap to wash their hair and a lot of people tell them that is a bad idea. I wanted to add an observation I've made. My daughter has been battling acne since she was 11. We finally got it under control about a year ago with the help of some medication but about...

    It went rancid

Thanks! I won't wait too long before making a decision on whether to ditch or not. I wonder if the different batches should be social-isolating to prevent the spread of contagion?

Taking too long to come to trace....and broke my stick blender

Thanks! Today I hope I'll get to make the soap with the proper amount of water and scales that work. I'll try stirring first before resorting to the SB and see if that's feasible under the new conditions.

    It went rancid

Thank you again. I had a feeling that the rancidity had spread from bar to bar, but that sounded daft in my own head. :) I've kept notes about all the variations. Hopefully, I'll remember where my notebook is! This article led me to believe that HP soap cures faster...

    It went rancid

Thanks. I think my plan will be to let these three batches cure and if they are no good as Christmas time approaches (assuming there will be a Christmas this year) I'll ditch them and make some HP soap. The next batch I'll make with the proper proportions and superfat. I bought all new oils for...

    It went rancid

That's right...I'm replying to @gorio ....he called you a layman...I'm wondering what on earth that was based on and what makes him think he is a professional. (or she think she's a professionl)

    It went rancid

I was trying to stay out of this, even though the first patronising message was directed at me, but I can't help myself. In what sense are you an expert and in what sense is @shunt2011 a layman?
