Soap Dough Gurus Here ~ Black Soap Dough

Black oxide is the only way I ever get mine truly black.

    stick blender question

No problem. I was trying to show a friend what it looked and ‘sounded’ like, as I have odd and very accurate hearing, and can hear the smallest change in things, but when I tried to explain it, I sounded crazy. 😂 So the video made me look less crazy (at least I hope so!)

Must have fragrances from Nurture Soaps?

Winter wonderland and Comfort and Joy are my two favorites from them.

    stick blender question

It’s your stick blender. It’s introducing air through the seal. When immune starts to do this, if I can’t repair the ring, it’s time for a new one, and that one becomes the TD blending SB. Oddly enough, I did a short video on this the other day, as mine had finally died. A Cheeky PSA: Air...

    Soapers Not Using Chelators.

This is such a great thread. I’ve been wanting to try chelators in my soap for hard water reasons, but have hesitated as it’s a change to my process, which is pretty set at this point. For those who add sodium gluconate and citric acid, do you add it to the lye solution ? Or? Do you do extra...

My family is getting tired of seeing my soaps on IG…

Came here to say this! I have 2 accounts. One for my soap, one for me. (The cats and horses also have their own accounts 🥰🧐)

    TS mold from NS

I’m late to the party, but I almost exclusively use these molds. They are my very most favorite! I use a heavy handed amount of Sodium Lactate, CPOP them, and unmold in 10-12 hours typically. I flip them Upside down, unseal/stick the sides from the soap by carefully popping the bottom corners...

Rant about soaping "trends" and myths

‘Rules’ are a funny thing, I’ve never heard them expressed as such, but more, ‘color in the lines, as outside of these, strange things can happen, and you may not be ready for it’. I agree they can limit creativity, and I’m all for tossing them out in some cases. Professionally, I do medical...

Do you scoop or melt lard?

I scoop mine, palm is the only solid that you have to pre melt, don’t stress.

Thoughts on a “certain soap franchise” in the US

No, it’s true Cold process soap. Just made with basic ingredients and swirls and sold fast.

How Serious Are You About Soap Making?

Is it just something you do for fun sometimes? No- it’s an obsession. I soap weekly, often daily. Do you just use pots, pans, and utensils you already owned and use for cooking? No. I have separate specific soap everything. Do you make your soap in your kitchen? No. I have my own studio...

Where can I get interesting columns for a column pour?

I made soap dough columns for mine, but it wasn’t true to the spirit of the challenge, but rather the fun of making the Birbs for me. I really liked Teri’s entry, the color combo was very striking and earned her 2nd place, and it’s made me want to try it again the ‘right’ way 😂 Me and my...

    Soap Dough Techniques

I have a jerky gun, but I got so sick of fooling with it, I got the large extruder gun from I Dream In Soap, which I then know matches with her disks. It’s amazing how much easier it is to do large batches now! Watermelon seeds, trees, you name it!

    Soap Dough Techniques

Got it! I didn’t totally understand you wanted this batch darker. You can work in mica colorant to an already made batch, but it takes time to get it smooth. I pre disperse it really well in just a dash of oil or water, and then work that paste in slowly.
