    Shave Soap Recipe

I know this thread is a bit old but from everything I've learned on shaving soaps you want way more castor oil in the recipe than you have. Castor oil aids in lather stability as well as creaminess and cushion for shaving. how did this recipe turn out ?

    input on shaving soap ?

Ok I hope this is not to weird of a question but, as a guy and a soap maker and as a clean shaved man I use traditional shaving methods ie. De razors or straight razors. I can't stand those mach whatever 65 blade get ups that a refill costs $20 for 4 cartridges. so I use high end razors, soaps...

    questions from a newbie

Ok so I am really new to this and still learning alot..... One of the things I keep seeing is about soap going rancid. Why does soap go rancid ? how long until it would go rancid, and how can I prevent this from happening ? How does everyone store there soap after it has cured ? here is a sample...

    silicone pans

yeah i was pretty happy about this !!! I need to make a mold as well. As I am new to soap making I used a silicone loaf pan as well as this torn mold. The loaf mold ended up looking like a brick of gold so to speak in it's dimensions. I am sure the soap came out great but not crazy about the...

    beer soap

Thanks for the advice !!!! as to using the wort to use in place of water I would think that would be worse if burnt sugars are a concern from the lye. Wort is all sugar from the alpha and beta gluconase conversion and no yeast is there to covert those sugars to alcohol. Using a well attenuated...

    beer soap

I hope I'm in the right place for this post. I am am complete noob with only a few basic batches under my belt. I keep reading and seeing posts about beer soap. this cnfuses me for some reason as I would assume you would replace the water content ( 38%) with beer but, I could be wrong with this...

    silicone pans

Just an update I made a batch over the weekend and though I mainly loaf I made a bit too much so I took the new mold out and used it and to my suprise and delight the tear is only cosmetic and did not effect the soap at all and did not deform or otherwise hurt anything. therefore I just trimmed...

Soap went berserk on me (pics)

I don't think it looks bad at all.... I actually kinda like it. It's like veins or neural synapses I like it.

    silicone pans

I agree 100 % about not repairing for aestetics alone but my only fear is that the rim reinforces the bar shape and I'm afraid that after I pour the mold the buldging from the soap will allow the soap to overflow the mold itself. I think I'm going to do a batch on Thursday or Friday and I'm...

    silicone pans

I hope this is the place for me to ask this question as I see nowhere to post this. I just recieved in the mail two new silicone molds to use for my CP soap. As I was opening the packaging the knife went through the outer edge of the pan on the rim. I don't think it will effect the functionality...

    Hi !!

I'm looking foward to it but as they say walk before you run .... I'm still getting ahold of the process of soap making and only have two batchs under me of cold pressed OO,PO,and CO that I mixed lavender into at trace and essential oil. I still have 3 weeks until it's ready and another that's...

    Hi !!

Absolutely there are a few aspects of brewing that could be incorporated into soap making. The trub which is the silky yeast and sediment layer formed by active fermentation which is high in B vitamins. The beer or wort ( unfermented beer ) the hops which are a aromatic plant that have a unique...

    Barley Wine - Beware!

Awesome !!! I'm a brewer as well and I have a a few barleywines and lambics and flanders reds in primary right now. What percentage of the barley wine did you use? or do you just replace the water with the beer ? I know this may be a very noob question but I am a noob to soap making beer is...
