I’m planning to make a watermelon/mint soap. I’m using watermelon juice in my lye solution. I’m am using watermelon seed oil Citrullus vulgaris. It’s usually marketed as a carrier oil. And it smells so nice like fresh watermelon. I’ve run it through soap Calc but I’m also wondering what percent would be good to use it at? I’m wondering if anyone’s used this oil in their soap. Also does it carry any scent? I assume it doesn’t which is why I’m going to use mint as my scent because I don’t want to use a fragrance oil for the watermelon. But just curious? Thanks!

I wouldn't use it in soap. It's a relatively expensive carrier oil and all it's lovely properties would be eated by the lye monster and wasted in a wash off product.

That sounds so cool! I would probably do 5% and see from there. it’s high in linoleic acid. I don’t know if the scent will stay after cure, but I doubt it.

You will to freeze your juice and add the NaOH slowly, but your Lye Solution could still brown. I would not w aste Watermelon Seed Oil on soap unless you are going for label appeal. Elsewise I would go with a Watermelon scent.

Castor Oil is the only oil I would recommend at such a low rate to receive an benefit from. Elsewise it is just label appeal.

Why not make a watermelon seed oil lotion bar? @Misschief is correct in stating the lye will likely erode the expensive watermelon seed oil qualities. Also there are some really excellent watermelon fragrances available.
That is an excellent idea.
