Can you describe the "odd smell?" If it smells like rancid oils then it probably is.

How old is your oil? When is it cold pressed? Do you have an idea on this?

This is probably your problem. Jasmine essential oil isn't a thing. Jasmine absolute is extremely expensive - one place has it for $164 for 1 oz. Are you sure what you are using is soap safe?
There is an absolute dilution listed as an essential oil on bulk apothecary, and I'm sure there are other such listings out there as well. Could be something like this that Aditya is referring to?

That's what I'm wondering. NOW brand offers something called Jasmine Essential Oil. The ingredients are "jasmine oil" but not "jasmine essential oil" whereas the ingredients for lavender are "lavender essential oil".
