I'd like to do a soap with grits in it.

How much grits should I add ppo?

Would you grind them up first or leave them big? I want it to be exfoilating and I think it would be cool to see some of the grits, I just don't want it to hurt:p

I would grind them up more, they are pretty big. I usually go with 1-2 tsp ppo with my defoliants, less with the really scratchy ones. Amaranth seeds work really well if you can find them, they are small, light colored and round so they aren't scratchy.

Good idea. I've also seen people use corn meal for exfoliation, it might be a bit softer then grits while still being southern.
This. You might also consider getting some flaked maize and then grinding it. It has already been cooked like flaked oats have and will be a bit easier on the skin when ground.
