Well for a beginner I think Iv learnt quite abit already

1. How easy it is to get false trace
2. Using a lot of olive oils takes longer to bring to trace
3. Oils separate if not brought to trace
4. Soap can get too hot and go lumpy/grainy
5. The warmer the oils/lye the faster the trace
6. The cooler the oils/lye the slower the trace
7. Fo's/Eo's dont alwasy behave as you expect them to
8. SOAP MAKING IS ADDICTIVE!!!!

Just thought I would share this xxx

It's the little things...

1. Have extra batteries handy for your scale
2. Have a spare SB available
3. Don't cut tussah silk with sweaty hands
4. Check to make sure all your colorants are high ph stable BEFORE you use them
5. DON'T HAVE A FLOOR FAN POINTED AT YOU WHEN YOU POUR YOUR LYE INTO YOUR WATER!! *doink*

There ya go, one of the addicts!

Let me add one more thing, colors don't always act like you think they should either.

OMG! I was JUST about to add that :grin:I added a purple mica to my bath this evening ... turned a grim gray colour so piled in some yellow ... still not too pretty hahaha

Many times purple colorants to not look purple when first added to the batch. They morph into purple after ph changes in the soap. I have a blue food coloring the morps to a pretty purple during cure time
