I'm looking to make an aftershave balm, since it might have damp fingers in it, I should use a preservative right? What would you recommend? This is the recipe I'm looking at using:
1/8 teaspoon essential oil
1 teaspoon glycerine or honey
1/4 ounce of beeswax
1/4 cup nut oil or vegetable oil
I'm also planning on converting it to percentages and then working out grams to use rather than the measurements that are used in the recipe
I know I was reading about glycerin being a preservative when used at a certain percentage, but I can't remember what that percentage was.
Also, if I wanted to use something like this:
1/8 cup peppermint essential oil
2 cups rubbing alcohol
1 cup witch hazel
1/8 cup lavender essential oil
1/4 cup glycerin
1/16 cup eucalyptus essential oil
A clean, empty bottle
It's obviously liquid, would it need a preservative? I would put it in a spray bottle, but nothing would grow in the alcohol would it? If I wanted to use FO, would I basically just do the rubbing alcohol, witch hazel, glycerin and fo? Not exceeding the manufacturers recommendations on skin usage obviously
