Hi,

For those of you who sell soaps, how do you label your soaps?
Do you label the botanical names of the oils?
Do you print % of liquid if milk/cream is used?
Do you label which soap is recommended for certain skin types?
Do you label the percentage of a particular ingredient? ... Shea butter soap w/12% Shea butter.
Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know which country you're in, so it may differ for what you need to put on your labels.

Here's what I put on the front of my labels:
My biz name
Scent name of soap
The word "Soap"
The weight of the Soap

On the back:
The ingredients listed from higher percentages to the lowest percentage (I don't actually list the percentage though). Using common names, which the FDA has deemed acceptable now.
Then my address

So here's an example of what the back would look like:

Ingredients: Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Soybean Oil, Avocado Oil, Water, Shea Butter, Sodium Hydroxide, Castor Oil, Fragrance Oil and Ultramarines.

My Biz Name
123 Fancy Street
Lovelyville, IA 34256

As for stating what the soaps are used for. My soaps are used for cleaning, but I don't say that on my labels. If you push your soaps towards certain "skin types" you could be getting into making drug claims. Which you'd have to have your soaps certified by the FDA to do so.

When using milk, I don't state how much is in there. I just put it in the ingredient list.
