Hi. I'm going to make a shave soap for the first time. I'm using the Loving Soap Dual Lye shaving soap. They have only hard oils, plus stearic acid. Can I melt stearic acid in the microwave, along with the other hard oils? When I do lip balms and whatnot, I melt the beeswax with the hard oils in the microwave, so just wondering if I can do the same thing with stearic acid. Thanks!

Thank you, and thanks for the pointer to the thread, no idea how I missed this. I'm totally going to do the microwave cook since I don't have a crock pot for soaping.

If you want to melt just the stearic acid alone, that works okay when using a hot water bath. I think it works much better to melt the SA along with fats/oils when using the microwave.
