Does anyone have a tried and true natural remedy for split ends and dry/damaged hair? I want it for personal use if anyone knows of anything that works. Thanks!

Luckyone, the remedy for split ends and dry/damaged hair is not a shampoo or soap, the remedy is internal. Lack of enough protein, minerals and vitamins that support the well-being of the hair is what causes the split ends and dry/damaged hair. If I were to have this problem I would have a haircut and I’ll use mostly ginger as a daily supplement along with balanced diet that contain other supportive notorious food like salmon, walnut, fresh farm eggs, poultry, dates………. It will take some time to notice the changes. There are more elements to be taken into consideration like smoking, not getting enough sleep, and definitely the hormonal imbalance requires a visit with a specialist.
Wish you all good luck.

The only way to get rid of split ends it to cut them off but for the dryness, try some plain coconut oil, its one of the few oils that will actually penetrate the hair shaft.. You can apply a small amount at night and wash out the next day. You want enough to coat the hair but not so much its a complete greasy mess.

You might try switching to a CP shampoo bar too, I've not had split ends in over a year. My hair isn't as soft & shiny as it is when I use shampoo & conditioner but its healthier. A tiny bit of coconut oil rubbed in dry hair as a leave in conditioner will help look it and feel softer.

Great advice! Agree!!! <3
BUT for a "quick fix" (not really a fix) for those special occasions where you want your hair to appear healthier, Nexus Keraphix (sp?) after washing (damp, clean hair), braid or pull up hair with conditioner on it, let it soak into roots for an hour, then rinse out - works. Not a home recipe - does have those chemicals we soapers often try to avoid, but........ just thought I'd admit to my own compromise that does help my own stressed-out hair. :-S

Same here, I use chemicals when I have no other choice even though I try to avoid them so much, at some point I just have to do it.

I stopped having split ends when I switched to shampoo bars and natural conditioners that I know are silicon free about a year ago. I had a hair cut then to get rid of the split ends I had, and have not had a haircut since, but no split ends.

After I color my hair, I use plain avocado oil as a deep conditioner, let it sit 10-15 minutes then rince with hottest water I can tolerate, if my hair still feels "greasy" I will wash with mild shampoo, but no added conditioner...

No serious damage, and I color, blowdry, flat iron, and tons of other "damaging" things to my hair often

Hope this helps

Horsetail is probably the best for problematic hair with a tons of minerals and vitamins, and easy to obtain, actually people like me fight with it in the garden. I am going to do some infusions on spring time, when the weed is the best, Coconut is good:))
I do not advice taking any fish oil or eat excess of fish due to contamination with heavy metals. It can actually cause the hair to fall out. Vb complex is very helpful :))

Once a week I slather coconut oil throughout my hair. I leave it in at least an hour or all night & wash it out in the morning. Today I added Argan Oil. I'm wondering if I added an emulsifier would it help it absorb more into my hair? I love this combination of oils :p

What would an emulsifier do?
Wouldn't it make it even better?
Like some is good & more is better?

If you use Bmts 50, you will add a lot to your hair, a lot of conditioning
Behentrimonium Methosulfate or BTMS is a vegetable based conditioning emulsifier. It can be used to emulsify lotions and scrubs but is more commonly used to make hair conditioners. The recommended usage rate is 1 – 15% though we find that much more than 6% in our hair conditioner recipes is overkill. This emulsifying system contains a large percentage of conditioning agents, making it appropriate for leave-on conditioning treatments as well as traditional rinse off hair care. This product contains no hazardous solvents and comes in an easy-to-work-with white pastille.
These emulsions leave hair tangle-free and feeling silky smooth and provide skin with a softer, powdery feel after use in skin products such as lotions and creams. BTMS-50 is also capable of emulsifying silicone, adding to its range in hair care products.
