Will lye react with 18/10 or 18/8 stainless steel? Can I use a stock pot or mold made from this material to safety mix AO/VO and lye/water solution and mold my soaps in?

It should be perfectly fine. The metals you want to avoid with lye are aluminum and tin. Not a good mix unless you like to blow things up.

18/10 and 18/8 stainless steel have no aluminum or tin in them from all that I've read.

I soap in a stainless pot all the time and use stainless utensils with no problems or bad reactions whatsoever.
