I just made a body butter, but it is firmer than many of the ones I have purchased. I remelted it and added a bit more oil, but it is still pretty firm. Do I need to whip it longer?

It has about a 60:40 ratio of butters to oils.
Thanks!

Assuming that your recipe is all butters and oils, no water, then whipping it will only make it softer temporarily. You need more liquid if you want it softer, in your case, that means more oil. There is no way around this. You can reduce the butters or raise the oil but either way your percentage of oil needs to be higher.

If you are making an emulsified butter then more information is necessary.
