What is glycerin soap?

I saw someone selling soap that said it was vegetable glycerin soap. It didn't mention lye or the chemical name for lye. Nothing really, just glycerine and scents. What kind of "soap" is this? Doesn't sound like regular soap.
 
Yep, what hazel said. A lot of people call M&P or any transparent soap "glycerin" soap. Glycerin is a byproduct of saponification, in commercially produced soaps they remove the glycerin to use in more profitable products like moisturizers and cosmetics. Transparent soaps and MP have additional glycerin added to the formula, but it is just an ingredient. It's still soap, and it was still made with lye.
