Is arabian oud infusion possible? (wood & oil)

I have a piece of arabian oud about 5 inches long. It is thin but very very dense with thick black oil. If you know the prices of oud you know why I only have a small piece :smile:. It would be expensive to get this experiment wrong.

Has anyone here ever successfully done a water bath/oil infusion with woods?

I have but for different extractions. Is yours a resin or a gum? Im thinking you might need to do an ethanol extraction then evap the ethanol if need be.

Its a black resin that turns to oil in heat

I would go with a warm ethanol.
