I do not use soybean but I happen to really like Canola oil and really do not like Olive oil in soap. Canola oil whether HO or regular has never caused dos in my soaps. Avocado is another favorite of mine used up to 20% and have never had dos with it. I have had dos problems, big time with lard, but I do happen to love the feel lard brings to the soap so I use it. I just use more tallow than lard with sunflower, canola or avocado and castor oil.

I am out of Olive oil ... Can I make soap with out it? What would I sub it out with?
A few years back when olive oil was more expensive, I fiddled around on SoapCalc for a good long while and came up with this blend to come close to OO's unique qualities and properties:

70% HO Sunflower + 20% palm + 10% Castor

Morale of the story: It pays to play!
