Brilliant thank you will definitely have a read of that. It did make me wonder especially after starting to read more.
 
Definitely lye used.....the whole rubber gloves and goggles was a bit intimidating at first....then once I started I decided I would have liked a full body set of goggles! It so reminded me of doing chemistry at school way back!
 
It was following a day with Dr Sarah making cosmetics. She demonstrated soap making and it really grabbed me the whole idea of having a go. She gave us a recipe to take home which I used for my first soap....though it definitely doesn't feel like the one she made in the class.

Here's the last batch....it was quite pungent when it was made but has rounded to a really delicious smell...the red clay did not stay red.....but the pumice looks fun! Thank fully the guy this is for loves scrub type soaps as clearly the pumice has made it a bit ummmm gritty
