    Salt bars for my mama

I'm not too fond of salt bars but I've discovered that my mother loves them. These were mixed, poured, and cut within 1 1/2 hours during the wee hours of the morning. Scented with Rustic Escentuals sea salt and rice flower FO.

    It's been a while...

Made some soap! Yay!!! Helps to actually have a minute to relax, especially when the entire family decides to go to sleep at 7. (The kids are actually adults, so there's always someone up late.) White Velvet Bow from Rustic Escentuals. Very pretty, very strong!!!

    Some "lush"ious soaps

Here are a few soaps I've done with Lush dupes. In order, Breath of God, Rock Star, and So White. The Lush dupes are pretty spot on, especially rock star! I threw in an extra soap scented with a Cashmere Mist dupe.

    Soap causes family fights!

Who knew!!! I sent some soaps with my husband to my sister who has been begging me for more. As soon as my husband pulled the bag of soaps out of his suitcase, my mom saw them and snatched them up. He said she was so happy to get more soaps that he didn't have the heart to tell her they weren't...

    Breath of God - FB

I soaped with this FO from Fragrance Buddy yesterday. There wasn't any acceleration as far as I could tell, and I did stick blend it more than usual, but about two hours after pouring, there were brown droplets (FO?) on top of the soap. They did reabsorb by this morning but the soap felt a bit...

    Fragrance Buddy reviews

I decided to get some L~sh dupes to see how closely they resemble the originals. I also got a couple of pumpkin scents for good measure. I ended up with... American Cream - sweet cream with light musk. This one is pretty dern close, if not exactly like my American Cream perfume from L~sh that I...

    Rainy day soaping

It's dark and dreary here today and I finally had a minute to make something! (Yay!) I figured I'd make my first real halloween soap, Witches Brew. Got distracted before adding the lye to the oils and forgot to line my mold, but it all worked out in the end. I managed to hand stir in 4 colors...

    Any Noa dupes?

I'm looking for something similar to Noa (Cacharel). The description, "Tender powdery top notes of freesia, peach skin, peony and musk lead to floral heart of white flowers, ylang-ylang and rose. The base is woodsy transparent with coffee and incense touches." I definitely get the coffee notes...

The soap gremlins know where I live now,

And I think their leader is my husband! Last night I experienced my first soap fail. If it could go wrong, it did. I had everything prepared, or so I thought, and proceeded to start my non accelerating FO vanilla soap. This is a loaf for a relative that I special ordered a fragrance for. I had...

    Usage rates confuse me

I was browsing Fragrance Buddy and saw that some of the usage rates are way up there. I saw as much as 48% (category 9, soaps, etc.) and 100% ( category 6, mouthwash), among other wildly confusing percentages. On other sites, usage rates are around 5% or less. Am I looking at the chart wrong?

Scent similar to BB winter white?

I'm looking for an FO similar to BB Winter White. It seems to be discontinued and I can't find the description or usage rate for it. I've been hanging onto this one until I was confident with my recipes, and now that I'm comfortable with them, it's been removed from their website. I'd LOVE to...

    Lavender soap smells awful!

I made a lavender soap a couple of days ago and just cut it. It smells terrible! I've read that milk soaps can have a sour smell but this isn't a milk soap. I've made several milk soaps and none have had this smell when cutting. I used The lavender EO at 5%, just a bit more than the last time I...

    Not sure about HP yet...

The very first soap I ever made two plus years ago was a HP Castille soap (I believe Kaleb's oat & honey???). I know I overcooked that batch and wasn't too sure about Castille in general after using. I also didn't let it age much since, at the time, I had heard that HP soap was ready...

    Not the color I expected...

...but pretty anyways! I wanted a light blue base with a dark pink swirl but the soap decided that green would match the scent better. I think the soap knows best! I used Sleeping Angels from BB. It moved fast so I had to glop the pink and push it down into the "blue" base for an in the pot...

Will this affect the final soap?

I made my second batch of shampoo bars today (Lindy's shampoo bar) with a little tweak since I ran out of castor oil mid pour. (I reformulated and ran through soapcalc.) I added sodium lactate, rather, I forgot to, and added after blending to a light trace. I finished stick blending a bit...

    A chocolate bar

(Hi there. First post here!) I've been making soaps sporadically now for about a year. I've tried a hot process Castile bar, a salt bar, a shampoo bar (Lindy's recipe from this site, LOVE IT!), and now my first soap with a fragrance oil. I used Rich Dark Chocolate and I live the way it's gone...
