    Am I bassackwards.....

So now I know I am not weird or anything. For me it was easier to work backwards starting with how many bars I want to make per batch. Then figure the size of the mold to be built. Then on to the amount of soap needed to fill it. Rosie

    Am I bassackwards.....

Hi again everyone. Took the weekend off from researching and reading and formulating since I was starting to dream bubbles...LOL Also went to a Scentsy party for a friend and then had company on Saturday. Sunday I worked in my front wildflower/perremial garden and kicked back with a few Mikes...

    Wooohoooo, good news!!!

Thanks Brand New, I wish I could move forward with it quicker, but I want things done right the first time (yes, I am a bit OCD). Plus trying to forgo taking out a small loan against my pension, we will see about that. Also, it gives me some time to work on the soaping room. I picked up the...

    Wooohoooo, good news!!!

Yes, I have Soapy, I have approximately 300 batches under my belt. It's not a new process for me, just starting over again after a long break of life getting in the way. As well as the fact that I'm not ready to sell, probably on't be for about 6 months to a year. The fact that I have been given...

    Wooohoooo, good news!!!

Sorry, just had to share. After weeks of listening to a grumbly husband about what and where I wanted to go with my soapmaking venture this time, he has finally approved all plans. That was even after hearing the start up costs. Of course myself as well as two very close friends are wondering if...

    Glycerine?

Thanks for the responses. I didn't think there was much of a reason to add glycerine to CP for regular soaps. Rose

best lard for use in soap making

It's great that you have an option. The only one I can get around here is Armour and it really is much cheaper for me to buy it locally then to order it online. Rose

Top 2 Oils to Keep on Hand...

Ah yes, we all need a weekend to just vegetate every once in awhile, though I have been doing it too often lately since my fibromyalgia has been kicking my butt with the weather changing here. I am going to nix the palm oil completely and do a lard bar as well as to other basic recipes. Rose

Top 2 Oils to Keep on Hand...

Sounds good Judy. I will have to play with soapcalc some more. Pretty much spent the weekend reading and dozing in front of the computer. I really didn't want to have to think about much since it was such a hectic week. Though that now means Ihave to squeeze in some time throughout the work week...

    Jewelweed Soap

I have nothing right now, starting all over from scratch so I will have to make a batch to HP and then add the eo. No biggie, but it will be an adventure since I never HP'ed any of my soap that I formerly made...LOL If you find a place could you send me the link? I am going to pop over to the...

    Glycerine?

Does anyone ever add extra glycerine to their CP soaps? I know you don't lose it when CP'ing which is one of the benefits versus store bought detergent bars. BUT, does adding any to your CP soaps help? Thanks Rose

    Jewelweed Soap

Carrottop, I just looked it up and I guess we were thinking of the same thing. Now I am just trying to track down jewelweed essential oil...LOL I know it will have to be a hot process soap since you still want the properties of the jewelweed to be active, unlike in CP where there is a risk of...

    Jewelweed Soap

I wish I could help you out, but I actually have a question for you...LOL What is jewelwood and does it help to "dry out" the poisons (oak, ivy, sumac)? Thanks Rose

Top 2 Oils to Keep on Hand...

Thank you for bringing this topic up. I am still on the fence about palm, BUT if I did order it the place I would be ordering from is only bringing in sustainable palm from palm plantations. What I am going to do is order a small amount of palm. I will then take identical formulations and...

    Intro and future plans...

Thanks again everyone for your warm welcomes. Actually took that day off from doing much reading (means I feel asleep in front of the computer)...LOL I might try some of the melt and pour since it sounds like something fun to get the juices flowing... Hazel you took the words out of my...

    Intro and future plans...

Hazel, how do you like the melt and pour? I never ventured that way when I was previously making soaps and was thinking of trying a bit of it. DO you think the CP soaps have more skin benefits then the melt and pour? Other then the advantage of being able to be used immediately are there any...
