    Apple Cider Vinegar

I accidentally used Apple Cider Vinegar for my full water amount 2-3 years ago and it turned out fine. The recipe actually said apple cider.

    Hot process castile

HP really is only gelling in the pot opposed to CP gelling in the mould. Some people think water evaporates while HPing, and it may, but to really know someone would have to weigh the soap paste before it goes in the mould and compare it to the weight they put in the pot. I would say castile...

    Eucalytus oil in soap

I just made a batch with Lemon eucalyptus oil! It's the 2nd time I have used it.

    Coconut

Yes it can Soapawpaw. I experimented recently with a small amount of dessicated coconut in coconut oil, coconut cream and coconut fragrance soap. I hardly know its there when I used it.

What is everyone's favourite milk soap method?

I have best results with any liquid other than water being at the just slushy stage, like Genny. I add the caustic soda a big spoonful at a time until all mixed.

Why oh why are my soaps doing this???

I have had that happen to one of my batches but I have never used TD. Interesting if you did a batch without it and see if you get better results. The recipe I used was equal parts of coconut, palm, olive, sunflower and castor (20% of each). Someone on another forum suggested it may be stearic...

The Great Mold Experiment and its results (pics)

I have got a homemade log mould made from good quality stuff, similar to the laminated shelves being talked about, but I still line it otherwise it sticks like cement! The laminated shelving and boards are not perfectly 100% smooth, so it GRABS. A smooth proper laminex that you put on your...

    Cold Process then Oven Process

Exactly Wandawump. The other week I did a hot process soap and then used the exact same recipe for cold process soap and in doing so, it made me realise hot process is just gelling in the pot and cold process is just gelling in the mould and cp in the oven is exactly as you say. So, it is my...

    Can Anyone Help me ?

Hello Emma, this has happened to me on more than one occasion and I am not a learner! If by some chance when you read this, your mixture is still liquid or partly, just tip it back into your soap pot and warm it up, keep stirring or stick blending until you see trace. I learnt years ago that...

    does everyone stick blend?

I hand stirred in the old days because it was not recommended you use any electrial beaters for fear of splashing. Who ever first used the stick blender is a LEGEND IMO :D You certainly can splash, but you just keep it under the surface and whizz bang it's done. I agree with Pamela, cheap ones...

    white distilled vinegar/ distilled water

I must have missed your post. I used Apple Cider Vinegar by mistake one time and it is a lovely soap to use. Vinegar we buy is only about 5% acid so it is very weak. Sorry I can't help with your second question, I don't think I have heard of that happening.

    Honey in lotions

I had a peek at your blog and see you know Aussie Soaps over there in WA. The honey in lotion recipe comes from their book and they suggest 5%. regards Loretta

    Honey in lotions

Honey in lotion Hello, I use a small amount of honey in one of my lotions and it is my most stable and my most favourite to use. A lot of people think it will be sticky but it is smooth and beautiful, with a touch of honey aroma.

    "wet" lotion recipe?

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about, but unfortunately don't have the answer either. Pretty sure mine is worse when I am stressed, and when really bad I get the awful restless legs at night. I use a homemade 'night' moisturiser and may need to put some on in the middle of the night and...
