Happy early birthday! I'm going to wait to sign up until I know my soap life is back under control lol but the wheels are already turning :D

    Mobjack Bay 2024

These are all gorgeous! That yellow, wow! I love the feathers, too. The only split cups I’ve seen seem too small to me, do they hold more than they seem or did you find a big one?

    A good bar??? 165 INS

I did, and raised the superfat a tiny bit. The coconut oil is definitely noticeable, but it's not been too drying for me or my husband. I wouldn't use it on my 6-year-old with more sensitive skin, though.

    Red mica turning orange

Is your base soap fairly yellow? That might do it. I haven't used much red yet but I hear great things about True Red from Mad Micas.

    Coconut Oil Free Soap

I learned in another thread recently about legal cases that set a precident for castile to simply mean doesn't use animal fats

    Swirls

I cut some soap today. This one smells just like roses! I liked the wet color of the green better, haha. Imagine my surprise when I checked on it this morning, and it had gone so bright! The swirls got a little muddy, but all in all, I like it.

Soap recipe for older thin skin

Oh I'll have to try this one too lol, I'm trying to find the perfect lard recipe for me :) Can I ask what superfat you all prefer for the lard/coconut/castor?

What soapy thing have you done today?

I feel your pain on the temp! I got impatient with the two soaps I made yesterday and soaped hotter than I usually do, and ended up with silicone rash on them both :(

    Greetings and Wow!

Hello, and welcome! Lard makes such a wonderful bar of soap, this will be a great way to use up your stores :) Reading around is for sure a great place to start, there are a few great threads on using lard in soap around here. I bet you've already got a handle on lye safety with your...

    A good bar??? 165 INS

I didn't think I was going to be trying out a new recipe today but now I am :D Anyway, to the question! I recently made a similar bar (I did 32% for the trinity and then 4% castor), and I found it to be a decent bar. I'm personally finding that I prefer lard to palm, but we're all different so...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I used coconut water as a partial water replacement and my lye turned bright orange! I’m making a high super fat coconut oil and mango butter soap I saw here, I think it’s @IrishLass that posted it.

    lye solution master batch?

Yep, my lye solution heats back up to about 120 when I add the extra water to it, so I usually do that first and then by the time I'm done getting everything else ready, it's back in the 80-ish degree range, which is about where my oils end up as well.

    Soap Dipping

Thank you :) It took less soap batter than I thought it would. I was using leftover from another batch of soap I mixed up (I made a bigger batch and just used a smaller mold) so I don't have great notes about how much I had left, but I would guess I had roughly 18oz of extra batter, and then I...

    Slate??

You'd need to look at the IFRA to make sure. As far as I know, all FOs that can be used in soap can be used for candles, but not all that can be used in candles are skin safe. It's category 9 that tells what the skin-safe usage rate for soap is. The one linked looks to be tagged skin safe but in...

    Soap Dipping

It's really fun! I did it recently for the Soap Challenge Club, this one was mine. I think the technique is great for making like, a little gift set or something for a special occasion.

February 2024 SMF Challenge: Latte Art Designs (Pretty Soap Tops) ☕️

Congrats everyone! I loved seeing what you all came up with and how encouraging people were in coming up with ways to let more people squeeze in last minute <3 I wound up sleeping a couple more days and missed that too lol, but finally feel like a human again!

    lye solution master batch?

I'm not IrishLass but I do use masterbatched lye :) The idea is you mix up a big batch of lye solution ahead of time that is enough for multiple soap batches, and then use what you need as you're soaping. You may want smaller batches, but when I make my 50/50 solution, I do 6lbs of lye and 6lbs...
