    Diluting for foamer bottles

I have diluted my liquid soap as normal, which is a thick syrupy consistency. How much more water will I need to use it in foamer bottles? For reference, I'm using 8oz foamer bottles; will I have to do 100% dilution or more? I don't want to clog up the foamer. Thanks!

Tents vs umbrellas for outdoor markets

I don't have the funds right now to purchase a tent for my markets this summer. Would a large umbrella set through the middle of the table work? I have an adjustable one that I can move to keep the shade where I need it. Thoughts?

    Can you plane M&P?

I made some melt and pour soap, and I wanted the embed to be level with the top of the soap. However, I poured too much and got some of the base soap on top of the embed. Is it possible to plane it? If so, how would I do that? If not, any suggestions on how to save this design?

    Bath bomb recipe help

I've had several batches turn out great, but the past few have been crumbly/won't stay together. In fact, I just picked up a bomb I made about 16 hours ago (drying in a cool dry area), and it exploded in my hand. Here is my recipe: 1 cup baking soda 1/2 cup citric acid 1/2 cup kaolin clay...

    Using hops in beer soap

I will be using olive oil infused with hops, hoppy beer for the liquid, and topping the soaps with dried hops. Will the hops fragrance come through? I will also be using a blend of honey ale and oatmeal stout FO.

Experienced my first soap on a stick!

It took 6 years, but it finally happened. Two pulses with the stick blender, and I had soap concrete. Luckily, I wanted a rustic look to this soap, so I just let it gel in the pot, then glopped it into the mold. I might end up with air bubbles, but such is life! The FO was Figgy Pudding from...

    Getting my soap mojo back

Hello :) I've been sort of MIA for the past few months, but I'm back! Some of you might remember my failed lilac soap that turned out gray and ugly. Within a week or so, that whole batch developed DOS :(. I was very upset. Next, a few bars from another batch got DOS. I think it was probably...

    What the heck?!

Fail! On the spur of the moment, I decided to make a lilac scented soap tonight. Since lilac fo is known to accelerate trace, I used a recipe high in OO to try to minimize the chance of seizing. This was my recipe: 9.6 oz water 5.15 oz lye 32 oz olive pomace 4 oz castor oil 4 oz PKO...

First slab swirl & first ITP swirl

Slab swirl, scented with coconut lime verbena: ITP swirl, scented with black raspberry vanilla: Freshly cut, it looked like I got partial gel...however, I saw that the loaf completely gelled, so I think it may have slightly overheated. I uncovered it when I saw full gel, but I...

    Margarita Salt Bars!!

I decided to give salt bars a shot :D I am so happy with the way they came out! Scented with Lime Margarita FO from CG, colored with Wreath Green Labcolor. I preheated my oven to 170, put the poured soap in, and turned it off. It was still warm and soft enough to cut when I took it out 2...

    Castile Soap- Take two!

So, my first batch of castile soap was a bust (see http://www.soapmakingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25092). Using what I learned from that failure, I took another shot at it. Success! Here is my castile soap, 100% olive pomace infused with chamomile and calendula petals...

    Color Bleeding in CP

Do colorants bleed as readily in CP soap as they do in MP? The impression I had was that they would...but I see many people making multicolored swirls with Labcolors. Will these beautiful swirls eventually start bleeding into each other? Or does the cold process change something so that they...

    First swirl and wine glass

I did my first CP swirl tonight :D I used a recipe with olive pomace, castor, palm, coconut, and avocado...colored it yellow and pinkish red, and used Raspberry Lemonade FO from WSP. On Saturday night, I made this wine glass with M&P, scented with Berry Wine FO from BB. It was a gift for...

    Castile soap not setting up

Last night, I made my first Castile soap...100% olive pomace, infused with chamomile and calendula. I used full water, and soaped at around 95 degrees (too cool?). I stirred...and stirred...and stirred...I used my stick blender for so long that I was afraid the motor would burn out. No trace...

    Chocolate Almond- Yum!

This is my second batch ever :D Scented with Chocolate FO and Almond FO. I used the soap balls I made with the scraps of my first batch to make polka dots in this one. I had been looking everywhere for something to use as a log mold. You know how everything starts to look like a potential...

    Busy weekend!

Whew, am I tired! I spent a good 5 hours making things today :) I made chocolate-almond bath melts: Then I made loofah M&P soaps for a co-worker. She requested them as a Father's day gift for her dad: Lighter orange is scented with orange, darker orangey red is scented with pink...

    My very first batch ever!

I took the leap into CP soaping last night. It went so smoothly and was a lot of fun. Took it out of the mold tonight and it was the perfect texture for cutting and trimming. It looks so nice! A very nice yellow/beige color, reminds me of beeswax. I didn't witness any gelling in the mold, but...
