New here and have a question

i can't stand the smell of olive oil, and i found that i really didn't care for the scent that it left in my soaps, so i just stopped using it entirely. the soaps i make without it have no discernable odor (to my nose, at least,) and i like them better overall. maybe if you can identify which...

    CPOP Mishap

i just had something similar this weekend, trying CPOP for the first time. it seems that mine were overheating (developed a kind of bubbly-looking, "permanent gel" look on the tops, with some free oil around the edges of the mold. one of them i rescued in time, the other i threw into a...

    My new (free) soap stamp

re: making your own, i've had good luck using shrinky dinks (i only do shapes this way, not text...) cut out your shape, shrink it down, and just press into the soap. it leaves a nice impression and pops right back off, no sticking or residue or anything. it's a little more labor intensive...

    Rain Water in Soaps

    sweet cream FO?

can anyone recommend a good sweet cream FO? something straight, not overly vanilla-y or cupcakey? i want a warm, fairly neutral scent. thanks for any guidance!

    yankee fragrance oil

ah, yeah. wasn't thinking in those terms, only about how the oils might react in the soap. one track mind an all, ha. thanks!

    yankee fragrance oil

i was wondering what the difference is between the fragrance oils you buy from soap supply places vs. the home fragrance oils you can get at places like yankee candle (the kind you use with diffuser sticks, for example.) are they unsuitable for use in soapmaking (like for small experimental...

    soap: my *other* obsession

...my first obsession is beekeeping, which means two things: i have a great source of chemical-free beeswax, and nothing to do with myself all winter while the bees are huddled together in their hives. so i've started experimenting with CP soap, as a value-added hive product to sell along...
