    “Grainy” soap with EO pocket…

I made four loaves of soap on Friday (two “First Snow” and two “We Three Kings”) I usually cut between 12 and 24 hours but I didn’t cut them until today (Sunday evening) so 48 hours later. They weren’t too hard to cut, although the edges did end up a bit rough (which is fine because I bevel my...

    Myrrh

I used the Commiphora Murrah at .8% of the oils. Is the soap safe?

    Myrrh

Ok I’m going to go for .8% of my oils! Thanks everyone! (:

    Myrrh

So does that mean it can be used at 2-3% of oils in cold process?

    Myrrh

Does anyone know the usage rate of myrrh? I can’t find it anywhere online, including eocalc.

    PH

Does this look like it’s between 9 and 10? That’s fine, right? All of my soaps tested with the same color but when i see other soapers test the ph of their bars it’s usually green.

    Stearic spots in half batch?

how do I keep my batter white if it gets that hot? When I go above 85-90 the milk turns a yellow color.

    Stearic spots in half batch?

I made the fall one first 😕 It’s high I’m coconut oil, olive oil, and Shea butter. It also includes castor oil, cocoa butter, and avocado oil. I usually soap around 80 degrees. It’s a blend of essential oils that I have used before individually. I haven’t used the blend though. But the...

    Stearic spots in half batch?

Hello all! So, when I make soap I make a 16.5 pound batch and split it in two, making three loaves of one kind of soap and three of another kind (my recipe is VERY slow moving so I’m able to do this) Recently I’ve been having stearic spots show up in my soap, but they will often only appear in...

    EO usage

I’ll explain my question differently lol So if I have two eo’s that I want to use in a recipe, but each of them have a usage rate of 168 grams for my recipe but I want to add BOTH not just one, I should add 84 grams of each, correct?

    EO usage

This might be a dumb question… If I can add 168 grams of lavender eo to my recipe and can use the same amount of another essential oil but want to blend them, do I add 168 grams of each or do I split each in half? I hope that makes sense!

    Gel phased before molding?

The soap turned out fine! It lightened to the normal creamy color and did not crack. Thanks everyone!

    Gel phased before molding?

But the last time I made it this didn’t happen. Although this time I added the honey before the lye, maybe that’s what happened. Goat

    Gel phased before molding?

This soap has me confused… It’s an oatmeal and honey soap that I’ve made in the past, the only thing that happened differently was I worked at higher temps (I forgot my oils on the burner so they got to 200 degrees, I waited for them to get down a bit and then mixed them with my liquid oils...

    Lavender/Teatree

I made lavender and tea tree! I love how they came out. 😍 I’m hoping I can unmold them tomorrow so I could get a couple other batches made! (I only have 6 of these molds currently, I need to get some more ) I’m thinking I’ll do an unscented oat and honey and then maybe a citrus. We’ll see! (:

    3+ week cure?

I decided to go for it! And as I was discussing it with my mom she made me realize that no one is really going to notice if the bar lasts a day or two less. Unless you are a soap maker, you just want something that has a nice lather and smell. And that’s what my soaps have. (: Thank you for all...

    3+ week cure?

My concern was the cure time, not the milk. If I make soap today, it would be almost 4 weeks of cure time, I think it’s like 3 days short or something like that. It’s a hard decision!

    3+ week cure?

I have a goat milk soap business and ran out of fresh milk. I have some in the freezer but it’s over a year old, so I was planning on waiting until my goat gives birth (in the next few weeks!) and then start making soap like crazy. BUT there is a festival on June 10-11 and I would love to go. If...

    A fresh slate…

If I were to make a soap with say coconut oil and olive oil. And so I mixed the lye water with the oils and let it come to trace, and then I added in 5% of the oils in a noncomedogenic oil such as hemp seed oil. Would the only super fat be the hemp seed oil or would some of the comedogenic oils...
