I make a chamomile soap but I infuse the flowers in oil (cold infusion). Then strain and use. You could also do a warm infusion on the stovetop(much quicker) As far as color - it gave a white soap base recipe I use just the gentlest light cream hue. It's actually very pretty. Good luck!

Hi There, I use distilled water but I know of another who uses tap water. Their water is very good as well and when mixed with the lye- doesn't cause any buildup (gooky stuff on top due to high mineral content). I've heard of people using snow and rain water as well. I'd be interested in...

My husband is Italian and he makes a great manicote...hehe...he laughs when I pronounce it manicotti. (you should appreciate that one IanT) :lol: He makes the pasta, the sauce (or gravy) and adds just a touch of mint to the filling. Allright...I'm drooling now. :)

Ian, thanks for listing those. Many people will appreciate it. I've made a few batches of charcoal soap - varied recipe each time and have found the charcoal seems to act as a fixative. I add anise, lavender and tea tree in my kitchen soap. Lush also makes a soap called coalface?? My line...

You could try 1tsp.PPO of activated charcoal for your black color. :D
