    First attempt at liquid CP

I'll try that, thanks for explaining!

    First attempt at liquid CP

Yep I had like 20% OO, 25% safflower, and 15% castor! But my Cuisinart stickblender held up like a champ, I'm very impressed. Do you have to do anything special with the glycerine to dissolve it? I saw a tutorial that was adding the lye to the glycerine and boiling it on the stove to dissolve...

    First attempt at liquid CP

I usually cook my liquid soap in the oven until it gels, but this time I decided to just CP it. The instructions were all TLDR until i found this one post on here that said to just mix it up and leave it, which is as simple as I had suspected. The problem was that i let my oils cool down too...

    Candle Science's Red Currant discontinued

Glad it helped a bit :) I'm thinking about trying that red currant myself, it sounds delicious. I'm also curious if there would be a difference between the scent memory and sweet cakes interpretation. Let us know if you end up ordering from both! I've only ordered a few samples from Scent memory...

    Candle Science's Red Currant discontinued

I don't know much about this, but one of the reviewers of your fragrance said it's the best replication of a high end red currant candle. So looked it up and I'm guessing they're referring to the Votivo red currant. If so then scent memory could have something similar...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Last week i decided to improve my body cream formula using Humblebee's tips. I reduced the amount of ewax and increased the cetearyl alcohol, and added some polyquat-7. Not sure if the polyquat-7 did anything, but reducing the ewax totally fixed the "soapiness" i used to get with my cream. Plus...

    Canadian Soap Makers Guild

Look up "artisan guild" in your province or city. Even though they might not explicitly mention soapers, they will often offer liability insurance when you sign up to participate in craft markets. Here's an example one for Ontario which i haven't personally tried but might be a good option...

    Cleansing Balm

It does sound like this guide is geared to folks who sell and the label appeal of more expensive ingredients like rosehip oil. I personally think it's kind of wasteful to use these in a wash-off product when you can use other oils like FCO with the same cleansing effectiveness.

Newly joined - soapmaker in a previous life LOL

As a fellow corporate IT drone, I salute you. DIYing B&B products has truly helped me keep my sanity over the years.

    Cleansing Balm

Cleansing balms are so underrated! Packing a semi- solid cleanser that doesn't need to take up precious space with the liquids and gels is genius. I add French green clay to mine just because i have no other use for it. I think this is the recipe I originally used but I looked up my notes and...

Anybody else get a severe Linzer cookie craving after grinding up all those almonds? 😅

    Ph tester? Making lotion

If you're making basic lotion with your typical oils/butters, water, and a generic emulsifier like Ewax NF then you probably don't need to measure the pH of your lotion. Yeah our skin has a certain pH that it prefers (~ 4.5- 5.5), but if your lotion ends up anywhere between 4 and 7 you won't...

    Lip Ivo?

Haha I have no idea how I became the de facto Cupuacu expert, because just like yours, mine had been sitting in the drawer and it wasn't until @melinda48 pointed out that it smells like chocolate that I actually looked it up and discovered that Cupuacu is related to cacao. So I was really...

    Lip Ivo?

You can reduce any of your ingredients since it's such a small %, it won't make a huge difference. Experiment and find out :)

    Lip Ivo?

You can check lotion Crafter for the recommended usage rate. For lanolin it's 2-10%. I like to use around 1-2%.
