    I like lard too, most advice regarding the smell is to heat it very gently, it does work, if you blast away at it, it can pong.

    Question about handeling oils

    Dreaded orange spots - when your soap starts to develp orange spots - surprisingly enough, because the oils have gone or were rancid. Never had it myself so far!

    I know what you mean, but I don't think it's the same thing, when it's set you can poke you finger very easily into them. Would just candle wax work just as well do you think - as the heat from the pad is not as high as a flame? The jars are about 18cm high and 10 cm wide, so not as small as a...

    How do I make wax warmers? You can buy a jar full of this soft waxy type stuff that you place on a heat pad, and once melted an aroma is given off. I would love to make some for my Mam, but have no idea where to start, can you help?

    :( , you could always call it coal soap and go first footing with it! For those that don't know, Scottish tradition, just after new year you first foot, as in the first foot through the door after new year, it involves drinking drams of course!

    Thanks, but it has being playing up for a while - I dropped it and it gave up the ghost and is in bits! :shock: I have enough soap to see me through for years, so I won't go dirty! We'll see if anything is cheap in the sales - Santa comes first at the moment! :lol:
