    color seperating crocodile effect

shunt "I agree with DeeAnna, its more likely rivers than separation. Has nothing to do with masterbatching but your water content and cooling. The larger the batch the more heat generated so the recommendations above should help greatly. Since I started using a 33% lye concentration I rarely...

    color seperating crocodile effect

DeeAnna "If the soap is firm and relatively consistent except for the color variation, which is what I'm seeing in your photos, it is indeed what people call "glycerin rivers" or more correctly "mottling" or just "rivers."" ok maybe this is what it is then BUT see my responses below "A 50 lb...

    lye solution master batch?

ok thanks, im gonna make a lot of lye so i can be ready for a future order. i was thinking of adding the SL to each jug then storing for later, or i could just add the SL RIGHT before i make the soap. i plan on having 50-60 gallons of pre-mixed lye water and it will save a LOT of hours of prep...

    Sodium Lactate

thank you shunt, Susie, and IrishLass! Vitamin E is VERY expensive, and i will be saving money now thanks to your information! IrishLass, I have been thinking about trying sodium Lactate in my big 50lb molds , because the current soap recipe sticks to my mylar liners, and ruins too many bars...

    scraps used for new batch

Seawolfe, thank you :-) I MUCH prefer "embeds" as well. I have no interest in rebatching because #1, its a lot more work than embeds, and #2, it does not look as good to me either...

    scraps used for new batch

Has anyone tried to just throw in scraps of old cold processed soap (ends and waste) right into a new batch (mold) of cold processed soap? I have heard or "re-batching" scraps, but i am thinking of trying to make a new batch, mix and trace, then add the scraps right into the mold. I do large...
