My rebatched soap is still liquid...

Thanks Genny! I wondered if that's what happened. I'll try cooking again.

My rebatched soap is still liquid...

After almost a week this rebatched stuff is still a liquid gel substance. Did I add too much liquid? Or is this just the nature of the beast? Is there anything I can do with this nasty goop? Yuck! Thank you :-)

Figuring how much wax for a container. I'm no math whiz.

Hi everyone, I have some 6.5 oz hexagon jars that I would like to use to make a few test candles, but I can't figure out how much wax (ounces) to put in there. If I make a tester 8 oz jelly jar, I use 6 ounces of wax and it's perfect, but I'm not sure if the same ratio would apply or not...

I love a lot of NG's FOs. My favorite of all time is their Orange Clove. I use it in soap, candles and tarts. Fireplace is great as a man's soap. I have mixed it with cake and vanilla scents to make a smokey sweet scent. Blueberry Flapjacks is a great, strong one. There are a few...

Adding FO &/or EO to HP

Thanks for all the replies! I just ordered some more supplies, so I think next weekend will be my first adventure into HP. My husband was going to throw away a huge old crock pot, so I rescued that and stole it for my soaping supplies. I'll let you know how this turns out. Thanks again!

Adding FO &/or EO to HP

Hi there... I'm a newbie to HP and CP soaping, but I am gathering everything I need to start making HP. My brother made me a wonderful big soap mold, so I really want to try it out. Anyway, I've read a lot about making HP and I'm ready to give it a try, but the one thing I haven't gotten a...

    New soap mold, please help.

Wow! Thanks so much for all the help! Figuring out how much would fit in it was easier than trying to figure out the recipes. You all are great! My brother is an amazing guy. I am really lucky to have him. Thanks again! :)

    New soap mold, please help.

Hi there, My brother just made me a really nice wooden soap mold for CP soap. I haven't really done much CP soapmaking, so I'm not sure how to figure out recipes. I used the calculator to figure out how many ounces of oils would fit in it and it's 58.5 oz. The mold is 18" long, 3.25" wide...

    Real coffee smell?

www.kycandlewaxsupply.com has a good Roasted Coffee. It smells kind of bitter out of the bottle, but it's the truest coffee FO I've found. I mixed it with several different things (like Hazelnut, Vanilla and Cinnamon, etc). I liked it. I hope that helps :D

    Natures Garden

Yay! I'm glad I could help! The Sinus Relief FO is pretty strong. Very Vicks-y. I think your husband will like it. Mine does. :D

    Natures Garden

Another scent that I really like is Cracklin Birch. I had a sample of it and made some M&P soap with it. It's a nice masculine scent. Kind of spicy. Their FO called Sinus Relief is nice too. Smells like Vicks, but if you put it soap and use it when you're sick it's really nice. My husband...

    Lotion/Massage Bars

Thanks Deda & Carebear! I'm going to play around with different ratios and recipes and see what I can come up with. The recipe I used to begin with turned out pretty nice after all. I think I might add a bit of the beeswax to it to harden it up a bit more, but they aren't bad at all. :D

New and not sure where to begin

Hi! Welcome! I started out with Melt & Pour soap and just kept looking for books about the soap making process. A book that I love is Smart Soapmaking by Anne L. Watson.

    Natures Garden

I LOVE their Orange Clove, Cinnamon Buns and Blueberry Flapjacks. Those are my absolute favorites from NG. I have tried several other FOs - too many to list - but off the top of my head, here are some of the others that I really love: Fireplace. To me this is kind of a woody, smoky scent...

What is your favorite FO Company?

I've really only bought from 2 suppliers...Nature's Garden and Kentucky Candle Wax Supply. I really love both places. Lots of choices. Ky sells 2 oz. bottles of FO. I did see that someone mentioned wanting the 2 oz. :D

    Lotion/Massage Bars

I wondered about beeswax! Thank you! I bet that really would make them firmer and less likely to melt on contact. I'll have to look for the honey powder and Natrasorb too. Oh, and this is probably a silly question, but is Coconut oil considered a soft oil?

    Lotion/Massage Bars

Tonight I made a small batch of these lotion bars. I found a recipe in one of my soap books (can't remember the name right now and it's at my mom's house). Anyway, the recipe is: 1/4 cup melted cocoa butter 1 Tablespoon coconut oil 10 Vitamin E capsules (I cheated and used about an 1/8...

    Vapo-rub

I make a salve that reminds me of Vapo-Rub, although it's a little greasier. I also use the salve as an ointment for cuts and scrapes. Take about a 1/4 c. olive oil and into that I add about a tablespoon of beeswax. I put it on the stove until everything is melted. You can add some vitamin...
