    OMG!! Sticker shock!!

I've had to raise my prices. I have a price per bar and a slightly discounted price for 4 bars. Most people buy the 4.

SMF July 2023 Challenge: More Fun with Color: Pick a Side!

I wish I could just join in but I've got a ton of soapy endeavors that need completed on the business end. I have restocks and fall soaps to complete before a big weekend market in early September. I'll see about doing a fall soap remake that fits the requirements, but won't sign up unless I...

Trying to dup a scent - Hempz Apricot and Celmentine

I've never smelled it and don't find a dupe in a quick search. You could get the individual notes and blend yourself. https://www.naturesgardencandles.com/fragrance-oils/apricot-fragrance-oil https://www.naturesgardencandles.com/fragrance-oils/clementine-fragrance-oil

Having a hard time choosing Halloween Scents

Cracklin' Birch is a big one for me. I've got a Marshmallow Fireside sample to try, but haven't yet.

Puzzled by Purple edges on soap

Sometimes fragrances cause discoloration like this. I have one in particular that I love, but is masculine and discolors a pretty lavender sometimes. You think one gelled, so heat may effect discoloration 🤷🏼‍♀️

Does it matter? Olive Oil vs Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I order from soapers choice. Have to order quite a bit to make the shipping cost effective though, so I always order lard and olive together.

What to do with mountains of soap

Same as @AliOop and @cmzaha here. I don't just dump stuff, I ask. I might give them uglier soaps from test techniques or fragrances, but the soap is still high quality and always appreciated.

What to do with mountains of soap

My family uses the odds and ends, leftover seasonal, and ugly soaps. When I accumulate a bunch, I donate them to a local shelter.

    My First Attempt

Congrats!! You've done the hardest part - making the first one. Bubbles - did you "burp" your stick blender? Tapping it against the bottom of the bowl releases air from under the bell. When pouring EO or FO, holding a toothpick or skewer against the lip of the bottle gives it something to...

    A very newbie recipe question

Are you needing plant based oils specifically? Lard or tallow will both help you unmold faster and make hard, long lasting bars.

SMF May 2023 Challenge: Spoon or Spatula Swirl

Here is the spoon swirl with mica lines that doesn't qualify. Three shades of pink with gold mica lines between the layers, scented in Midnight Peony.

Entry Thread for the SMF May 2023 Challenge - Spoon or Spatula Swirl

Oops, forgot to post! Thought I'd missed it 😬 I experimented with a ghost swirl, hoping for a more drastic difference, but it's simple and works well with the gardenia fragrance even if it isn't particularly eyecatching. I mixed 2 batches, 1 at 30% and the other at 45% lye concentration. These...

Do colloidal oats discolor or accelerate?

Most florals accelerate, and honeysuckle is particularly known for it. I believe there was mention of several different honeysuckle scents that did on a thread fairly recently and I have another that also does. I use oats and they will be visible as splotches but don't accelerate for me.

HP Rebatch vegetable oil soap i need some answers to some questions

Regardless what someone else does, you *can* use water. If someone made an all veg oil soap in order to be vegan, they can't use milk. If it's fairly fresh, you can grate it and try melting without added liquid, but it's unlikely to work well. You don't need a lot, but some with make it...
