Anyone use Nesco 18-Qt Roasters for HP?

That's what private messaging is for. I didn't ask for feedback on my website. His un-solicited commentary only detracts from the conversation and topic at hand. See? Now we're having conversation completely unrelated to what I asked. If he really cared about my website and what I'm doing he...

Anyone use Nesco 18-Qt Roasters for HP?

The Nesco website and this particular model lists it as having a porcelain cookwell. http://www.nesco.com/products/Roaster-Ovens/18-Quart-Roaster-Oven/18-Qt-Roaster-Porcelain-Cookwell-S-S-Body-and-Lid/session_fc26ff67c007/

lets talk 100% olive oil soap

I make a 95% olive oil bar with the remaining 5% being castor. I also load it up with ground apricot kernel. My soaps are angled at the Martial Arts/Sports demographic. I train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and we are all barefoot all the time. The olive oil bars don't foam or lather up huge (castor is...

Anyone use Nesco 18-Qt Roasters for HP?

I was looking up large capacity slow cookers and came across the Nesco Brand. They have an 18-Qt (4.5 gallons) for only 70-85 bucks depending on where you buy it. (I just saw walmart has it for $52!) I was curious if anyone has experience with these in turning out larger batches of hot-process...

Are there any Bulk Oil & Raw Ingredient Suppliers in the NJ-NY-CT Area?

Yeah, I've ordered from Camden Grey before but they are in Florida. I'm in NJ by NYC. I'm trying to avoid spending $100 on freight every time I order 100+lbs of ingredients.

Are there any Bulk Oil & Raw Ingredient Suppliers in the NJ-NY-CT Area?

Does anyone know of any distributors or suppliers of soap making ingredients in the New Jersey-New York-Connecticut- Eastern Pennsylvania area? I live in Northern NJ and buying 100-200 lbs of ingredients at a time is getting expensive to ship. I am trying to find a supplier within a 100 mile...

    Wonderful pine tar soaps!

I picked up a can of from Tractor Supply and have a few questions about using it. Should the can be heated in a hot water bath to make the oil less viscous for easier pouring and handling? How do you blend it with other oils and when adding lye? I thought I saw someone say that it's not...

Tamanu Oil - Add before HP cook or after?

So I got a few ounces of Tamanu oil, which many of you know is not a cheap oil. I am making a hot process batch and here's my question. Since there is a saponification value listed for tamanu, do I add it with the rest of my oils and cook it? Or do i add it at the end with my other essential...

Calendula Oil Infusion Vs Calendula Tea?

Do both. That's what I do. I make a calendula-infused olive oil tincture. I take dried calendula- you can either use the flowers or get pure calendula tea bags- and soak them for a week in the sunlight. It is way more economical to get a bag of dried flowers and do it yourself and then sift and...

Can cheap stainless taint your lye batch?

I have a few high-quality stainless 4 & 8-qt pots that I use on occasion and I have never had an issues with them. Just seems to be one of those "You get what you pay for" situations. I will be going to back to using poly mixing buckets for large quantities of lye. Glass - pyrex or not- has...

Can cheap stainless taint your lye batch?

A flexible magnet I had would stick to the bottom but not the sides....And the discoloration was only in the bottom of the bowl. Here's what happened that made me raise an eyebrow and wonder what was going on here. I had 75 ounces of oatmeal milk at room temp (made the day before). I...

Can cheap stainless taint your lye batch?

Mixed up a batch of oatmeal milk and lye in a $10 stainless steel bowl from walmart and the bottom of the bowl is black and it looks like my soap is now too as its cooking. Whats going on here? Cheap stainless? Should i only mix in a poly container? Or is this the result of just crap quality...

Is Adding Essential Oils Before Cooking in HP Bad?

Can't do CP. It's for a Bridal shower that is this weekend. It's for my best friends, wifes, sister. So in order to make it packable and usable, it's gotta be HP. I'm gonna weigh each quantity separately and then transfer and already have the additives portioned. Was just curious to know...

Is Adding Essential Oils Before Cooking in HP Bad?

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing. That it would probably only effect the scent a bit. But figured that I'll just ask since this is a forum and someones usually got the answer to what you're looking for.

    Silicone molds

Yes, you can. Silicone can handle really high temperatures. Had silicone baking molds before ever using them with soap and then went right in the dishwasher. If you want to be cautious you can put them on the top rack only.
