LOL! Thanks for the kick in the pants. I guess my experience with hot process LS has me worried and anxious about it. I will dilute tonight and see what happens. Thanks!!!!

    Soaping 101 liquid soapmaking video?

Hello everyone - I have just begun my liquid soap making journey, although I have been researching it for over 6 months and i have been making regular cold process soap for 6 years. I tried the "normal" hot process way and HATED it! But I saw the process that Irish Lass and Susie have posted...

    Paint It Black!

I get a real solid black with my all white goat milk soap base. So it doesnt have to be clear. I just use activated charcoal too.

Goat's milk soap - temperature issue

Whats the reason that the lye/milk has to be that temp? We only make GM soap and I have always kept my lye/milk solution at around 70 (Fahrenheit) and kept my oils under 80 so that the milk wont change color on me. I have only been making soap for 5 months though - so I may have been doing...

    Technique question...

I tried that a few times and the soap I add on top caused the separation between the two to be wavy. I want it as straight as is possible. Thats why I thought it would be best if it had set up as hard as possible.

    Technique question...

I am looking for a different way (to me) to make a two color soap with a very straight transition between the two colors. Is there any reason I cant make a soap batch, pour it into the log mold, let it cure over night, then come back the next day and pour another color on top of that one...

Ok. I just did another batch of soap - this time I used a black mica and a yellow. They do say that they are stable at High PH and good for cold process. ( I got these from WSP) I will let you know! Thanks!!!

Dark blue mica is now tan?!?!?!

This is their description... Description Dark Blue Mica Powder. Produces a dark blue luster shimmer in clear bases. A flat, pastel color with no shimmer is produced in opaque (white) bases. When used in bath salts and fizzies, water color will not become tinted but instead may glisten with a...

Dark blue mica is now tan?!?!?!

So I am still working out colors. I recently had a maroon gel colorant that went completely brown on me (its been 5 days). Yesterday I got my Dark Blue Mica shipped to me, excited to try it. I made my normal Goat Milk soap and mixed 3/4 of it with Dark Blue Mica. (2lb test batch with...

    Maroon Gel Colorant - brown?!?

Thanks for the replies. I am positive its not burnt milk. I keep my goat milk from turing dark, it stays very near white due to using frozen cubes and also keeping it from gelling. The "swatches" of color is really a great idea. I have a small mold that I could do that with and test all...

    Maroon Gel Colorant - brown?!?

I am still in the learning phase. Im trying different colorant options. So I bought a Maroon Gel Colorant that says its for use in water or oil base products from a local Soap Supply Shop. I made a goat milk soap today and added this color to half of it. It just turned brown. As I added...
