    Anyone use RLI Insurance?

Has anyone used or does anyone have RLI Insurance? I'm trying to get this going, but they are balking at my request to have the agency name and address put on the application and I'm leary of not only signing the application but in giving them my bank information for payment without it. I...

    Slimy Soap

butterflybrat - it would help if we knew your recipies that you used. Soaps high in oo are known for being slimey but there are ways around it. If your soaps are not high in oo, then there might be another issue but we can't tell without the recipie.

Thanks. Anybody have their website address? I agree, I don't personally like the smell of rosemary but its my brother's favorite and I do have quite a few customers that ask for it.

    Is it over yet?

Your're kidding right? I've got 9 (yep 9!) soap baskets sitting on my kitchen counter waiting to be shrink wrapped and I have to be at a close friends at 4 (its not 6:30 AM). While putting them together last night I discovered that I had forgot to make cigar bands for one of the soaps I made...

    Adding Salt to your soap

I do cphp and add both sugar and salt to every batch regardless of recipie. I add the 1 tsp salt to the lye water and dissolve completly before adding the lye. Caution - adding more salt will make your bars really hard like hockey pucks (don't ask  ) but does make for nice HARD soap...

Pic of my Christmas Gift Soaps

Nikokea - They're beautiful!! My BF & I are coming to Kuai in January for a few days and I would really love to see more of your soaps. Everyone is teasing me that I'm going to bring home coconut oil and co milk (I just might, ya' never know). All I care about is coming back to COLD Colorado...

Is there a standard size for tester bars?

I do 1/8 slices off of my end bar and wrap them in coffee filters. I just slap a label on them, identify what they are and they're good to go. I always do 8 from either end, give away 8 and keep 8 that I test myself at 1 or 2 week intervals depending on the soap. I realize that's 2 bars of...

    Snowing like crazy!

And.... you can have it! I am in Colorado and sooooo tired of the snow already. We're on the plains (contrary to popular belief not ALL of Colorado is mountains :D ) and we've had our fair share already this year. February and March are the snowiest here and when the subzero temps come...

    Need suggestions:-)

Not sound like smart alek, but could you make cheese? I agree, however, that any milk soap, if made correctly should not spoil. And I suspect you could make some lovely soaps with it.

    Using powdered colours

I mix mine - about 1/4 tsp ppo with about a tbs sugar syrup ppo that I add right before molding and mix in well. The sugar syrup (someone here suggested it and it works great) adds lather and its easy. I just made up a batch and keep in my fridge so its there whenever I need it - find myself...
