    Minimum Longevity Number

I've noticed that soaps with more stearic acid than palmitic acid takes longer time to lather up. Which is logical due to the fatty acid structure. Also, the lather is more creamy with stearic acid. I've tried with sugar and polyols and it's a bit better. So, for easier lather, try to...

    Lowest superfat?

Well, when making ZNSC, sodium bicarbonate will react with the lye forming sodium carbonate/soda ash/wash soda, NaHCO3 + NaOH → Na2CO3 + H2O, meaning that you'll not get 0 % SF, instead you get some SF. To make 0 % SF, you could just add sodium carbonate, which you could buy cheap.

    Ode to Castor oil

Did you use any waxes? I tried 20 % castor and thought that it mostly was sticky.

FA Profiles in Soap Calculators: Who Copies Whom?

I was wondering about coconut 92 deg (fully hydrogenated). The calcs are not adding the extra stearic acid that will come with hydrogenation of coconut oil. Coconut 92 deg should have: Stearic: 13 Oleic: 0 Linoleic: 0 But the calcs still show the same FA composition as coconut 76 deg...

    Soy Wax Users

So I got my PureSoy S100, from an European online seller (one of Premium Soy Wax For Candles | All Seasons Wax Company distributors). It came in a plastic bag, with no label. It smelled like stearin candles. Well, I hope it is the PureSoy s100. I melted the CO first and then 10 % SW (it melted...

    Citirc acid calculator

Thank, I now too think that it is better to add in the lye water. There is a color change and hotter soap if added to the oils!

    Soy Wax Users

For those in Europe, which soy wax should we buy? I do not want any additives. I found these: - Eurosoy800 - NatureWax C-3 - EcoSoy C3 - PURE SOY S100 What are the differences between these soy waxes, and how to they affect the soap?

    Citirc acid calculator

Yes, but I was thinking if it is better to pour the CA water combo in the oils, stick blending them. Because of the strong reaction of NaOH and CA in the lye water

Using cocoa butter together with coconut oil

Ah, ok, I've been reading that too much butters with affect the lather, ie, decrese it. I'm trying with SF 3 %. I will also try 2 % superfat, to see if there is a difference. Thanks for tips for bubbles!

Using cocoa butter together with coconut oil

I've some try batches, that have been curing för 4 weeks, one with 18 % CO, 20 % COand 23 % CO and there isn't that much difference in the lather department. One gets so focused and obsessed with these numbers! Thanks!
