I have been putting some times my stuff straight in the dishwasher but it has been foaming like crazy. It is not suppose to foam in the dishwasher because then it will not splash the water properly around.
I am in no way any soap expert but I think that if you will cure it for some months it will be fine to use... 0-1% is ok to use for example as laundry soap. The extra lye will disappear with time... if you let it cure long enough. I think there was somebody here making castille soap with 40%...
I have some similar spots, mine are reddish- orange... I was thinking they are DOS, they came up on some bars that belong to a batch that starts to get small dark orange spots here and there...
