    Can my soap cupcakes last?

Hello all I made some really adorable frosted spice pumpkin cupcakes for fall shows and although everyone said they were really fun and picked them up and looked them over at the craft fairs, not many people purchased so I have about 2 dozen left. My question is will they last until next fall...

    Color of Goats Milk Soap

So are you saying I should bring it to trace and then put it in the freezer? I have never tried that.

    Color of Goats Milk Soap

The gm soap I have been making for some time cures to a sort of light tan color. There have been slight variations, but nearly always in the range of light tan. I see goats milk bases that are completely white in color. How does that happen? Are there ways to combine the ingredients or...

First Market Adventure - A Success

I just returned from my first Farmer's Market sale and it was successful. I got so many great comments and people actually bought my soap and lotion bars. They were actually handing me cash!!! I sold out of my gm Calendula bars and the lotion bars. I can hardly beleive it. Until now I have...

    trying to buy lye locally

I get mine from Ace or Menards here in Minnesota. I have had some problems with Menards because the clerks have steered me to products with only a percent of lye and not 100% lye. I can't imagine what sort of horrible soap that would create. Just be sure to read the label yourself. Good luck.

    Dissolved Lye

Thanks for the quick replies. I used my tap water, not distilled. I live in the country and we have our own well with very hard rusty water. We have every kind of filter and a softener so I thought it would be ok to use the tap water.

    Dissolved Lye

I just made a batch of soap using clear water for the liquid and usually I have used goats milk for the liquid. Before I added the dissolved liquid to the fats and oils I noticed floating little particles in the water. I thought the lye was dissolved when I finished stirring but I mixed it up...

    Lavender fragrance and Lavender EO

A friend asked me to make her lavender soap. So I used my lavender EO and made this creamy GM soap with lavender EO and another with ground lavender buds and E0. She didn't think it smelled like lavender and then I realized that she was talking about the flowery lavender fragrance and not the...

    Anyone know what this is?

Yes a fish poacher. There is a great scene in Roxanne with Steve Martin (one of my all time favorite movies) where he whips up a gourmet dinner with this number. Lovely.

    Natural Color for Lip Balm

Thanks Thanks Deda. I will try micas. Natural was not the best choice of words in that post. I didn't really mean naturally occuring substance (arsenic is natural and a bad choice for lip balms) I guess I meant I didn't want to use some sort of dye produced in some laboratory somewhere that...

    Natural Color for Lip Balm

My daughters little girls love lip balm. I have some pretty good recipes and I like to be able to keep the ingredients natural but they really want colored lip balm. What can I put in that will give them some color, but keep with my focus on something natural? It also needs to be...

    What do I do now?

Last night as I was pouring soap into my molds I found several very small lumps (pea size) of what I am thinking was unmelted fat. :( I think this happened because I was trying to keep the fats at just the melting point in an attempt to keep my GM soap the light and peachy color I like for the...
