I buy food grade lye from ED and that is a selling point for my soap. People think of lye as drain cleaner and are surprised to learn that pretzels take a lye bath. It gives some a safe feeling.. I buy in large quantities and love the 2lb bottles also the price break I get.
I am compiling a notebook to use at shows and at markets to explain the good things in handmade soaps..things like teas, wine, goat's milk,etc..any ideas where to start?

I have an old recipe that calls for crisco..I made this when I first started making soap and it is an ok recipe but I have moved on to using different fixed oils...is there is a fixed oil I can used instead???
It calls for 16 oz of crisco...
I have the same problem with CP but not HP..thought I was doing something wrong.
Love CP for the lather and the hardness but found even my conditioning soap was more drying.
